New question regarding building variety

Hey,

Do any mods exist that change or add new options to the simcity 4 zones. For instance if i download some residential buildings and then zone some residential will the downloaded building be able to grow from that zone without me having to manually place it etc.

If such mods do exist what are they called and how do i know if it will grow from a zone or have to be placed?

I believe that there is no such mod that does this, but there might be one buried somewhere in simchina or something

Do you mean you want to replace the Maxis buildings with a specific style of buildings that grow? Or are you talking about regular "growable" downloads that will grow (not plopped) when conditions are right for them to grow? If this is what you want, most residential downloads will be the growable type since ploppable residentials don't function consistently. If you just want custom buildings to grow, you can get the but be sure you have plenty of custom lots available.

Not replace just add more to the current pile if you will so there's less chance of a zone growing identical patches. Is that possible?

If you mean stuff i have to manually select from menu and plop myself then no. I do have some mods like that which are growable but it's not what i meant.

Ill try explain differently, You know when you zone for residential , commercial or industrial and you see the colored parcels on the floor from which the buildings develop.

Are there any mods or downloads that can grow specifically from those parcels and don't have to be manually placed like parks , schools and other stuff. For instance say residential low wealth parcels currently randomly pick between 8 different models that are 2x1 in size, can i download an addition 8 models and add them so 16 different looking houses will grow on 2x1 parcels instead of 8 or is that not possible?

Yes you can. They're called "Growables".

Do you know if there are any packs or do i just have to download dozens of them individually, Doesn't seem to be a filter or option to search for growables. Which section of the STEX will they be located in BAT?

You'll find a few packs here on the stex (just search "residential pack"), I know Simgoober & Equinox made some. PAcks are quite uncommon though so the vast majority you'll have to download separately.

Multiple building packs are also built by Paeng and Madhatter106. There are a few others whose names do not come readily to mind.
