Well, I must say I am waiting in stark anticipation of the completion of this project. This is some very impressive work, which I believe is nearly unprecedented on this scale. Your city looks realistic and handsome, and I like the way you have managed to hold the style so close for the whole time you've been in LE and BAT. Completed, this will be a masterpiece.

Very nice update!

First off, that street up on the side of the cliff........That would be a scary ride!

And the last pic, the canal/fountain thing, BEAUTIFUL!! Great use of the diagonal canal pieces!

I can't wait to see what you do with it!!

Keep up the good work!44.gif

What a nice twon with all these nice grey W2W - Buildings!

Aren't they R$? Because when they grew in my twons I had to make them historical IMMEDIATELY or they were replaced by R$$ ...

Anyway, these rows are beautiful! I also like how you integrated the barocque church!

Keep that great work!

It just goes to show that unique bats and lots make the game. This CJ is already an inspiration on page four. If this CJ is kept up it will likely win a Tixie. I love the huge factory and I must say there simply are not enough of them available on Simtropolis. Keep up the great work.

I am happy. Are you?

I must say this is one of the better w2w cities I have seen, even the grid is working perfectly the way you have made it.
Also the spectacular cliffs looming over the old city is making this something quite unique.
This is a wonderful CJ in the making.44.gif

    Wow, guys!
    So many great comments here! Thanks everyone!
    29.gif
    I have a big step-by-step work in progress update for you, but first, som answers 48.gif

    To Pipishere: Thank you 1.gif I'm glad that you find the look of the area a bit more greek/italian.  I was trying to build something that will look like Barceloneta in Barcelona, Spain, but little bit different. And it's good that everyone finds his own feel of it 19.gif And everything you wanted to know about this square is down below 2.gif

    To Equilibria: Wow, thanks! I'll try to make things go right with this CJ and i hope it will take long to complete it, because i have a lot of ideas to release 29.gif

    To Weird: Thanks man! Aurelianeans are strong and temerarious, so they don't suffer from the roads like this 18.gif And with this canal/fountain thing i've already done something that you can see below 2.gif

    To Nardo69: Thank you! And yes, you're right - they are R$, but since i've made props using these models to be able to make them overhang the lot limits, they can be used on R$$ or R$$$ lots. For this district, i've made a set of reidential growable lots (about 9 different lots) with overhanging house props to have the narrow streets like on the pics from the last update 1.gif

    To Mtbrocket: Oh, thank you so mutch! So many kind words 43.gif Concerning this factory - it will turn in to something... different in the future 2.gif

    To Kwakelaar: Thanks, mate! I just love to keep the balance between realistic, and non-realistic things like this town and fantastic cliffs next to it, and other things like that, so... thank you again, huh 18.gif

    To Kaji: Oh, thanks a lot! I really love the LE stage of the work, cause it give a lot of the possibilities to the gameplay. It really makes the landmark a landmark, huh 19.gif

    To Mayormommy: Wow! Thank you very much! Especialy for the words about the story concept 48.gif It's just sometimes i think it's... kinda stupid 43.gif

    To All: Thanks again for the comments everyone, guys! They are really make me want to keep this CJ coming 29.gif

    Now, let me show you what i've got!

    Work in progress #2. Operation 'Tunnel'.

    - You know what? I have a really weird feeling last few days...
    - Really? Tell me about it...
    - Well, it's just like... It feels like... someday we'll wake up in our beds, in our rooms... here in Aureliano...
      But this will be a different Aureliano. Not just like right now - a little flareflakes town.
      We will wakeup in a great and beautiful city...
    - Get outta here!..
    - I tell you! I have a feeling.

    * * *

    Ok, my friends, today i'll show you the way i've find the solution of the intresting transport issue.
    When i was thinking about a place for the industrial port, i've decided to place it here:

      align=baseline>

    Every industrial port needs a railway connection. Isn't it? Yes, so the only way to build a railway in this area was continue the branch line, that you can see here . But! There is a problem. I really don't want to brake the beauty of the Aurelianeta with the ugly freight trains! I don't want to add this noise, smoke and all the rest to this peaceful area. So, the only way i've found was constructing a tunnel. A railway tunnel that will enter the cliff here:

    align=baseline>

    And exit... here:

    align=baseline>

    But wait! We can build straight orthogonal tunnels only! It is correct, but... my tunnel will turn 2.gif
    I've took a road tool and found the proposed place where the tunnel will turn by just draggin a road from the railway over the cliffs:

    align=baseline>

    Yes, ofcourse! There is no any modds or miracle, or something else 18.gif The only way to make the tunnel turn is to make two tunnels. And the turn in between 19.gif So, lets start!
    Long time ago, i've made a useful lot for the terrain leveling. It can help you level terrain at any height with superb accuracy. You can simply make your own! Just take the cheapest 1x1 lot and save it with Foundation threshold at zero, and Elevation change LotMax at 999.0 (or higher) and LotMin at zero. After this, you can do the things like this:

    align=baseline>

    So, after the leveling was finished, the whole thing looks like this:
    Actually, you can already make the first tunnel. But... there is a problem, you just can't see the things you doo at the bottom of this  ditch. So, i've took the leveling lot again and start to make things visible:

    align=baseline>

    In the end, here what i've got:

    align=baseline>

    Now, when everything is visible, we really able to draw the first tunnel. And we do it!

    align=baseline>

    align=baseline>

    The second one will be at the bottom of our ditch, so we need to get rid of this ditch first 1.gif
    Let's get back the main terrain level!

    ioj905.jpg

    ioj913.jpg

    Now, everything is ready for making the second tunnel, so in the end, we have something like this:

    ioj95h.jpg

    Allmost done... As you can see this turn is the most compact variation for the dual railway tunnels, so, after the tunnels are connected, let's bring back our terrain level!

    ioj96r.jpg

    Voila! Now we have a turning railway tunnel!.. and weird thing like this... hmmm 30.gif

    ioj983.jpg

    So we need to decorate it somehow. We need a lot with a big overhanging prop... But first, let's thing about a good possibility to make a railway station right here for the future use. Just imagine - a railway station based on the tunnel - really great! So after some hours in LE, i've had this:

    ioj9c1.jpg

    Then i've made some additional lots to decorate this tunnel hole but still had a problem - i've had only a 1x1 water prop from Oppie canal set wich cannot be used here to cover the whole hole... then, i've open a reader, load this 1x1 water tile, and edit it point by point from 16x16 prop to 64x64 prop. Actually, that was really boring but look the result is worth the price! Just look at this:

    ioj9d2.jpg

    So in the end - a beautiful square with a beautiful pond and with the nice looking entrances to the underground railway station:

    ioj9ex.jpg

    Looks cool when transportation data is on:

    ioj9g3.jpg

    That's how the railway was provided to the port area without breaking the beauty of Aureianeta 9.gif

    ioj9k0.jpg

    That's all for today!
    I hope you find it useful 9.gif

    Cheers!

    and i thought you'd gone mad, turning tunnels... and then it dawned on me.. all i had to do was read on and all would be explained... 18.gif ...and all i can say is 46.gif46.gif46.gif well its an ingenious idea that draws on your great LE skills. you know they say there is a fine line between a genious and a mentalist. keep on the right side of the line 3.gif

    Thank you very much for the coments, guys!
    I'm glad that you find this tunnel idea quite original, any way that was really intresting to try to do.

    To Simen: Thanks alot! I'm not sure that this trick is brilliant enough, but well may be, huh 18.gif43.gif

    To JoeMeister: Thanks man! I think i'll keep experimenting with tunnels like this, even it's expensive - on the pics you can see how much money takes to plop a leveling lot at this height 21.gif
    But since i'm using some radical mods and the city is workable, not just eyecandy, i have a good profit and few years at the fastest game speed can cover all these expenses 19.gif

    To Kwakelaar: Thanks, mate!

    To Jasperdeman: Oh, i'm glad that you like it 48.gif And about to be a Marrast II - well i don't deserve it lol 43.gif

    To Kaji: Thanks, man! 48.gif

    So, concerning this tricky square - i just can't wait to start developing on the top of the cliffs, but i have to finish the historic center and the port first. I just can't wait to see how sims will travel by train using these railway stations 18.gif

    So, i hope i'll get it soon! But now, a few pics of what i'm working on right now:
    Aureliano Commercial/Industrial Port:

    ivlf9y.jpg

    ivlflg.jpg

    So, that's all for today. The real update will be about this port so i pohe to finish it soon and show you how it looks when completed 1.gif

    Cheers!

    Great work with the tunnel (most but not only technically48.gif) as well as the harbour (most but not only asthetically48.gif)!

    This harbour remains mor ethan any other harbour of Harem container harbour (I live in Istanbul) ...

    *shameless beg-hint on*
    Do you, by any chance, think of uploading some of those nice habour lots the stex????

    ouch, I just have to pinch myself, to check if I was awake. There must be something on my glasses... No.

    That is amazing tunneling work you have done there. Have seen something like that by smoncrie, where he cover up a rail-transition with the grand central station.

    I really enjoyed this CJ when you first started, so it's nice to see you back up and running! I missed the last few updates, but I'm all caught up here, and I am quite impressed with the the LE work here! That port looks impressive, and that's a very resourceful idea with the rail tunnel--not really a trick of course, but how many of us would actually spend the effort needed to do something like that 10.gif. That transport data view does look neat!

    I just finished reading your cj, and I think it is really excellent! The mine looks very nice and well planned. Your rail lines and yards are laid out beautifully. That was quite the trick with the rail tunnels, I think I will give that a try myself sometime, but I don’t think I will get it as good as you. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next update.4.gif
