Interesting idea. This reminds me of the original SimCity game - where you could sort of "cheat" by using only rail to keep your costs down and your traffic flow smooth. Please post updates.

I would suggest to create a Downtown well served by trains with lines coming from many residential suburbs and then going into industrial areas, that would seem more realistic, however the idea is interesting anyway, let us know how it turns out. I made a test few weeks ago, i made a city with residential part connected with commercial and industrial only via monorail. Not to mention that when i created the road connections my population doubled as they could use the car. This to mean that some sims will just used the car anyway, in fact the monorail was being used all around the city, but still the population doubled after making the roads, it's not a NAM issue, it's just the fact that certain sims will just take the car...

Yesh, I suppose you could make a downtown (maybe further linked by subway if needed) with these main lines going S-Bahn all over the surrounding regions serving many suburbs. It's the take I have in most of my cities (which are really very often railroad-orientated).

Linoa06: I'm using plenty of custom tree made by many players. My favourites are the pines of Mountain Theme Pack by Pegasus. Can you post a picture of your plan to study it?

10 years later. As you can see, many Sims are still using the car. But still traffic jam is very low thanks to the trains and the buses. For now we have only low density homes. Apartment buildings are coming soon...

This is really coool. Maybe if you'd photosh00p in the shadows for each of the spaceships, it'd be alot more convincing. Cos' the way it looks now, there's no visual "weight" to it, and I can't determine the height / depth.

It seems that I just hit the limit. Traffic start to rise, so I think I should build subway railroads as well...
