I know they said in the latest E3 interview that there will be wind (so wind turbines will not be consistent in producing electricity).

A while ago when they did a Q/A session on (Reddit?), one of the people answering the questions mentioned rain and thunderstorms.

We've heard that the water tables will be refilled by rain, so rain would appear to be a given.

Rain and wind are in. Electrical storms might be natural.

What if there is no snow? You would not buy the game?

I'd love for there to be weather and seasons. EA should consider releasing expansion packs like they did for The Sims, which add extra features onto the game e.g. SimCity Seasons (weather), SimCity Gridlock (expansion of transport), Alien SimCity (build on Martian landscape with Martian resources).

:/

Or they could quit being the most hated company in the United States and allow for more content to be in the base game eliminating 200 expansions like for every Sims game, sorry to be blunt but they deserve that title as far as I'm concerned.

I would certainly prefer if there was weather. We have day and night, so with the new 'model' style and enhanced graphics etc I would be dissapointed if our cities were stuck in an eternal inertia of bland sunny weather. Bring on the storms, hurricanes, tornadoes etc. I believe that many cities are as changed by the weather as they are by the sun cycle. It is odd building a city modelled on one where it snows and it is sunny all year round. Hopefully there will be a climate type setting, so we can build cities in various climatic zones.

Yeah the problem with expansions is: what if I want seasons AND an expanded road network? Or Martian storms? They're already making us pay close to one hundred dollars for the game, that's way too much in my opinion. I don't want to have to go out and buy all these expansion packs too. Not everyone's rich!

Yea just overall weather and having to adapt your city to it and also the terrain would make it alot more better minus the expansions. Maybe just one for new grid system or weather included would be practical.

SimCity: Societies even had a stripped down storm that came around sometimes, rain, thunder, and lightning. Weather effects are definitely possibly, but of course, you'd think they'd show us if they had developed them thus far. We'll just have to keep our eyes out.

    Here's an idea:

Since Simcity 2013 will be online, hurricanes, for example, can move towards a certain region, and can start out as tropical storms and grow into category 4-5 hurricanes and make landfall to certain regions, and it would be up to the players to whether they can prepare or not, just like in real life, and they can also issue hurricane watches/warnings and evacuations. The meteorologists would predict their paths and strength by landfall. The hurricanes would be named and become news around the Simcity world. They would only hit tropical areas of the game, just like tornadoes hit wide, inland plans, and earthquakes hit on fault lines. This would make the game far more realistic, as the challanges offered would be based on where the city is built, as this would be due to the different climates.

Other disasters such as cities built on snow regions, they deal with blizzards, and cities built around volcanoes, they have to deal with eruptions and work on preparing in case they would happen. (Remember Volcano City?)

Maybe in 10 years when hardware blows current "Gaming PC" hardware away ;) . But this would be amazing and I don't think I would get bored of this as long as these events are both either manual (click a button and place) and EXTREMELY rare so it doesn't get old/repetitive/annoying fast.

Yeah, and then we'd be paying 30 bucks or more a pop for each expansion only to find out each time that our game is rendered unplayable by such and such bugs. EA has a very bad habit of breaking games with expansions. You might try asking someone who has played The Sims 2 or The Sims 3. I played TS2 and tried out TS3. The first ever expansion back for The Sims 2 had this bug where if you saved while a Sim was using a particular item (Remote Control Car) a file in the game became corrupt and cause blank icons in the game. The Expansion Pack that had this bug came out in Spring of 2005 and I know we didn't see an official patch until well after the Summer had passed. And TS3 has some major flaws that have come just from patching the game, which EA now puts out patches very regularly but they break things with each patch.

It would be great to see those features in the game but EA would need to buckle down and figure out a way to put out expansions with a minimum of bugginess.
