Adding Diversity to Cities

Hey, I am not new to the game but I am new to these forums and the STEx. While I find the search function very helpful, I realize that I am probably missing some very interesting lots simply because I don't know what I'm looking for, haha.

So to cut to the chase, what lots or BATs are you really enthusiastic about? I've downloaded a number of Houses of Worship to add some variety to my towns that way. What else do you find really adds to your cities?

Try searching the STEX for the most downloaded and highest rated content. Some real gems are found there.

Some of the must have items;

All the four types of vertical farms, theres loads of normal farms as well, the very large fire department (6 engines covers a small tile,2 cover the medium and3 cover a large tile there a snap at $800 each), extra police stations, the updated federal prison and police academy to cull the crime rate, the sky tower power generator- loads of clean energy a snap at $7000 each and NO pollution, air filters are a must and get the traffic mod NAM

I could go on but go slowly through the STEX and choose carefully- get stuff for both land locked cities and costal cities some parts like warehouses can be used on both to generate loads of jobs.

Well, it is a matter of personal taste, but you will find some builders consistently produce high quality stuff. I prefer to avoid lots with a high dependency count because figuring out which component has failed is difficult. For consistent lotters lately I've been using Paeng and Madhatter106. Some of Madhatter's lots are more than slightly naughty.

The most important thing about adding custom content is control. I keep a completely separate <user>/Downloads folder with all downloaded items in there sub-foldered by source or category depending on need. Makes it easy if something is updated.

This also can provide a complete backup for your <user>/SimCity 4/Plugins folder, especially if it is similarly stuctured.

Because there are so many of these files, it is impossible to test all possible combinations. You need to test each add in a sandbox region city before you consider it working with your suite.
