How to limit growth of Mattb 325 regency estate?

I downloaded Mattb 325 regency estate (along with a bunch of other medium size residential lots):

http://sc4devotion.c....php?lotGET=704

It's a nice looking building, but far, far too common. I notice that it will grow on Chicago, NY and Houston tileset

if I zone medium density 1x1 or 1x2, it will almost always grow into this lot, so I ended up with a city of mostly this building. For those of you who use it in your cities, any way to limit it?

I hardly ever get that building! You're frightfully lucky.

Short of removing the plugin, there's really not much you can do. The best solutition would be to download a lot more 1x2 and 1x1 lots, which should add variety - I'm not sure I'd recommend the Skipjack ones, though - as lovely as they are, I had the same problem with them to the point I had to remove them.

Thanks. Any other good 1x1, 1x2 medium lot (similar in density to row houses) you would recommend?

The issue with Regency Estates is that it has high capacity (~55 sims) and is a stage 5, I believe most other row house type has a capacity of ~35 and stage 4. So if you have sufficient demand, it should almost always grow into this one.

If you are familiar with you can change the capacity and/or building tilesets in order to reduce the growth rate. I've done that myself in order to keep them more in line with similar Maxis lots and it helped.

For more small lots look at Paeng and Madhatter106.

Many thanks for the suggestions. I will check out Paeng and Madhatter106. Always good to have more variety in the cities.

I am not familiar with iLiveReader, but have used DatGen a long, long time ago, maybe in 2005-2006. Was pretty good at editing files, but have become quite rusty at it now.

As a note about controlling certain buildings that grow like weeds, if you have the model, the desc, and the lot file for the building, if you remove the lot file from your plugins folder but keep the model and the desc file, any new instances of the building will not be possible, but any that have already grown will not be affected.

Thanks. This will be very helpful.

I have downloaded iLiveReader, but don't know how to edit the lot. Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to use the program?

Yes, it is in the STEX about three hits above where you got the reader. Try a search with the key "reader".
