Not to take anything away from dirk, but there are other people without whom this site would have been nothing. Two that stick in my mind are:

rybolton who (correct me if I'm wrong) created the original SimGolf website where dirk first showed up, and later became an administrator.
Some bloke at simgames.net who shut down his server for several months. This led SimCityCentral.net, then much larger and with a bigger rep than SimTropolis, to go through much downtime before they finally rehosted on Whaddu. By that time, SimTropolis had seized the initiative and grown by leaps and bounds; since then inertia has set in.
ralphaelninja who led the exodus of talent from SimCity.com and was a critical founder of the Modd Squad, making SimTropolis practically the center for the English-speaking world for SimCity 4 custom content. This, afaicr, also coincided with the SCC downtime.

I put e.t.c there for a very good reason. And instead of guessing why don't you ask him.

 

Can peaple not start spaming that front page sucks either becuae its beyond the point and I have seen nothing wrong with it when I am using it.

 

Yes dirk could not have done without help from the curent admins and other staff members as well as it members which are the heart of the site itself.
