PropViewer is a new tool requested by Vlakhaas

PropViewer allows you to preview properties file from Simcity 4. It is designed to help you when using Maxis' Lot Editor.
You can also create group of properties.

The first time you launch Propviewer, the program need to build some files. These files are cache files ; they may be large and can take a long time to be build. This operation is needed as Maxis' Lot Editor locks all simcity files. So, once you run the Lot Editor, no other program can access simcity files.By using a cache, Propviewer can be used at the same time as the Lot Editor.

How to use it ?
When you launch the program for the first time, the config screen is opened. You have to click on 'Rebuild all props' to create cache files
To create a group : right click anywhere on the list and choose 'create group'. Once you validate the name, a new group is created under the 'User defined' entry.
To add an entry : right click anywhere on the list, click on 'Add to group' and choose your group.
You can also use the icon in the bottom of the screen

PS : effect properties (green diamond in the Lot Editor) are not displayed

Actually it encourages it, something about the blood flowing counterclockwise or something. It's amazing how many clever creative folks there are down here. 9.gif

Cool tool iLive. Now all you need is to add the ability to drag from this one to the LE! Just joking.37.gif

The initial plan was to copy and paste the prop reference from PV to LE but Maxis disabled the PASTE in the Prop input line ... 32.gif (This time I use this smiley without a problem)

Thanks to iLive for assisting Lotbuilders the way he does. 36.gif

Sorry, only props are displayed. But if bldgprop_vol1.dat is in your plugin's folder, you can see RCI buildings

You have to rebuild the prop files in order to see custom props. There is a button at the bottom of the PropViewer called Config.
Press it and it will bring up a new window where you can rebuild the prop files.

By default PropViewer looks for custom props is MyDocuments\Simcity 4\Plugins but you can add additional folders.
If your list of custom props is long you have to have a little patience as it can take a while for PropViewer to rebuild all files.

    Hope this helps.

sandasim1: Thank for your answer. I did all in the way you described. There is a short progress and I thought all is in order, but it will not work. Could it be, that there is a problem because I have the german version?

Thank you for your help. I did that all. But nothing happened. The directory User defined is still empty. Any other ideas what I can do?

Ok, I just tried the tool and it's kinda cool! I could see most of the props I installed... BUT :

    - It seems to work only with DAT files. Props in the SC4MODEL+SC4DESC format do not load... I will try to experiment this further : maybe I just have to make a DAT with he files and it would work (?)...

    - It seems you have to tell the program wich folder of your plugin folder you want him to include... Initially, it only loaded DAT files in my docs\plugins\, not in docs\plugins\any folder...
