Commute Problems

So I'm rather new to posting on this forum so let me say that I'm happy to be here.

So in my city of Ash, I purposly put the commercial zones right next to the residential zones so the Sims could have easy commute times.

I never put in industry and my commerical literally borders each residential zone, but the problem is that my tall, high density residential zones will get abandoned due to commute even though the commercial is right near their homes...

Is there any mods or help that I can recieve that will make the Sims work at the closest possible workplace...

Thanks

Maybe the residents of the tall buildings needs Commercial Office Jobs and the commercial zones that are next to them were Commercial Services. You can raise the CS taxes and lower the CO taxes. Also residents have to be well educated and in a good health to become high wealth and look for high wealth jobs.

Welcome to ST! I am relatively new here but have been playing sc4 for almost 10 years now. There is a wealth of knowledge here to answer any question you might have. First off let me start by directing you to the City Journals section here: https://community.simtropolis.com/forum/11-city-journals/ You can find a lot of neat pics there to get an idea of better ways to lay out your cities. Also most of us use the NAM, which is a mod that adds lots of neat features to your roads. It allows you to build 6 lane avenues and even turning lane avenues like in the big city! You can find it here: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=851 The NAM also has a traffic sub system on it that replaces the default maxis system (Maxis system was a joke at best) Make SURE you read the readme included with it before you install as many people have complications simply because they did not read it and set it up wrong.

I hope this helps you. I encourage you to browse around and look at all the cool stuff here. It will certainly help you become more adept at creating sprawling cities. Good luck!

When you've downloaded the NAM v30, and began installation, it must have asked you if you wanted the NAM traffic simulator to be installed along the NAM itself. If not, download the latest NAM and reinstall. If you've already done this, well it should be already in effect.
