    Petronas Towers Complete

Hi everyone, just to show you the finished project in Central Norwich - Petronas Towers. This is one of many ongoing projects in the city to increase tourism and maximise commercial and residential space. An aerial view with many new commercial and residential towers built simultaneously.....

    PetronasRedevelopment2.jpg

And the beautiful parks and walkways in the shadow of the twin towers. The red tube station in the pond at the front of the building will be one of many such red stations throughout Norwich - all those on the Central Line, which is planned to stretch from the extreme east in Maidenwell to the extreme west in Oakhill, will have this instantly recognisable livery in an attempt to make the network tourist-friendly.....

First of all, where on earth did you find the room in Central Norwich to build those? I wasn't aware there was any left.

Second of all, I feel dreadfully sorry for all of those people who travel accross that bridge... at the end, it's quite the slope... straight down3.gif
Tisk Tisk... abandonment28.gif Alt-Tab out of SimCity then go back in, and all the visual abandonment will be gone!

Third of all, did you say Tube ?  You did. Yes you did. And HOW many votes did tube get? Huh Huh? Recount mister...

Fourth of all, please... get rid of those Euro Building Set small Commercial buildings with the red roofs!!! They're HIDEOUS

Fifth.... Beaches are nice... even on rivers19.gif

Now to bug you on grammar... COMMAS go INSIDE the QUOTATIONS... like so: Billy is a dog, said Sally.

    I'm done nit picking1.gif

    Oh, and good work18.gif 35.gif 35.gif 35.gif

Thanks for the comments xiziz, appreciated! The towers had only just been built hence the no road connection zots.....

Mattc005 - thank you for your assortment of comments! 2.gif

First of all - check the last page - I sacrificed some very ugly industries for those towers.....
Second of all - that's life in Norwich and everywhere else - like a rollercoaster ride! Abandonment is good because it shows you all how bad I am at this game.
Third of all - slip of the tongue - my sincere regrets. Tubes are for the science labs.
Fourth of all - I can't just go around deleting things just because they look hideous! Can I delete the town of Ipswich? No. Ben Affleck? No.
Fifth - we don't have beaches on rivers in the UK. The water is too toxic to touch.
Grammar - your time will come smart-arse......3.gif

Good work - thanks! AND thanks for your contribution to the below......

As I've got not much to show you tonight - I thought I'd drop these in - some progress on Norwich METRO.....

Now what about a map for the entire soon-to-be-METRO and NLR and Train system? That'll be a challenge!

First off, let me just say that this is an awesome cj, and I have absolutely no idea why I haven't looked at it before.  Great job, and keep it up. 44.gif

Second, where did you get that interchange from?  It looks really cool!

Ooh...splendid stuff!  Heh I was actually at the original Petronas Towers last year.  The coolest bit was how they had daily tours up to the skybridge, but tickets were extremely limited.  It looks set to be a tourist draw in Norwich all right!

    SPORTSCENE

Good evening everyone and welcome to tonight's analysis of this afternoon's matches in the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District. Our featured match tonight is the clash between the league's top two sides - Stokesbury United and champions Norwich City.

The opening minutes of the game were an open, flowing succession of moves from both sides. It was the visitors, however, who carved out the first real chance of the game on twenty minutes. A jinking run by Bentley inside the Stokesbury half saw him feed the ball to McKenzie, whose snap shot saw 'keeper Evans go down smartly to palm the ball round the post. From the resulting corner, Evans caught the ball unchallenged and sent a huge throw downfield to Russell, who ran towards the stretched Norwich back four, and after drawing Charlton into the tackle, flicked the ball right to Keen, who hit an unstoppable first-time drive into the net off Green's right-hand post. It was a classic counter-attack goal. The rest of the first half was spent with Norwich City passing and probing at the Stokesbury defence, but the home team showed the organisation that has seen them move to the top of the league.
Half-time: Stokesbury United 1-0 Norwich City

Norwich started the second half as they ended the first, with lots of possession without really making any chances, and they were almost made to pay when Holt lost the ball in midfield, and left his defence two against two with the Stokesbury pair of Keen and Graydon. Graydon skipped past Fleming and chipped the ball onto the head of Keen, who was already turning to celebrate his second goal when Robert Green launched himself across the goal to tip the ball onto the post, and this time the ball stayed out of the goal. The Norwich fans chanted the name of their hero after his world-class
save. This seemed to kick Norwich into gear and they then created a flurry of chances. First a McVeigh cross-shot flew across the six-yard box with a line of Norwich players inches away from turning the ball in. Then, a good exchange on the right between Edworthy and Jonson ended with the Swedish winger Jonson crossing the ball into the near post, where Doherty chested down but sliced his shot somewhat wide of the post. But Norwich were not to be denied their equaliser, and it was the unusually quiet Huckerby who provided it. He skipped over two challenges and got into the Stokesbury box. As he was about to shoot left-footed, he feigned inside the defender onto his right foot. With only the 'keeper to beat, the finish saw him drive the ball inside Evans' near post to send the visiting fans wild. Stokesbury had a golden chance to take all three points in the dying seconds, but Keen spooned his shot hopelessly over the bar when it seemed easier to score.
Full-time: Stokesbury United 1-1 Norwich City

So that result will satisfy both teams in that they both hold on to their unbeated records, although both managers will feel that they had ample opportunities to win the game.Elsewhere today, there were plenty of goals around, despite two goalless draws; Maidenwell are still looking for their first win despite being expected to do well this season - they played out a 0-0 with Barton Hatch Rovers. Also, Norwich United missed a golden chance to capitalise on the draw between Stokesbury and their rivals City, their match with Salham also ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw. Clarendon Athletic jumped into the leading positions with a hard-earned 3-2 home win over Swanton courtesy of a late winner. Bradwell also leapt up the table with a comfortable 3-1 victory over East Statham. However, the game of the day in terms of goals was certainly in Oakhill, where Pentney and Parkstone Rangers played out a classic 4-4 draw. Pentney will be disappointed not to have won, however, as they had led 1-0, 3-1 and 4-2 at various times, but much credit to Parkstone for a dogged display to earn a point to lift them off the foot of the table.

Next week sees the start of the Norwich Cup. The top four teams automatically advance to the quarter-final with the league's bottom eight taking part in play-offs to decide who will have the right to join them in the draw. Today's draw in full.....

    CONRIP Goes To Work

Hello everyone. I'd like to take this opportunity to show you all the good work that CONRIP (City Of Norwich Redevelopment Investment Plan) has been doing in Central Norwich recently, after the arrival of the Petronas Towers and with the ongoing building of Norwich Metro.

    Road Network

Due to the arrival of new tools available for transportation planners and engineers, several parts of Central Norwich's transportation network have been improved. The multiple dual carriageways in the city have many crossings with railways - whereas before there were vehicle height restrictions in roads going beneath the lines, these underpasses have all been replaced with flyovers. You will see many of these shortly, but first of all, I'd like to show you the improvement to Junction 1 of the A3 (M), where it intersects with the A30 and City Of Norwich Airport. The improvements have made it a simpler junction for motorists with a higher capacity. It is also hoped that the improvements will reduce the number of accidents, with longer slip-roads to allow much more time to reduce speed.

    Green Park

Green Park was part of the very first settlement in the whole of Norwich. Basically a large lawn with trees, it was a minimum-cost attempt to provide recreation. Now that residents' recreation needs and education levels are far better than in the early days, CONRIP have decided to utilise the park's space to maximum effect.

    The original Green Park.....

    Olympic Park

Olympic Park - the home of Norwich City's Olympic Stadium - has received a boost with the arrival of Norwich Tennis Stadium, to help diversify resident's sporting interests.....

    NorwichTennisStadium.jpg

Some updated region views for you. Not much new here, except a slight increase in population and if your eyes can make out the difference in Green Park and the arrival of the Petronas Towers.....

The Victoria Line built in Central Norwich

The Victoria Line, with it's orange-liveried stations, has been completed in Cental Norwich. The new line was named after one of England's greatest monarchs, Queen Victoria, and runs north-south and will be extended into the boroughs of Clarendon (north) and Kelseyheath (south), in much the same way as the Central Line will extend into Oakhill and Maidenwell.

Now that's a park! Puts the Queen's Lawns to shame!
Not impressed with the positioning of the tennis stadium however... look's simply plopped without care. You can do better then that, sorry.

    Grammar time...
...the southern end of the new Green Park, with it's gardens and pathways...
'it's' should be simply 'its' - with the apostrophe, he refers to 'it is'

    I love nitpicking on you3.gif

Whoa! A little groath from the last time I saw Norwich!
-Well, it has been a while.
I still think that you could revamp Norwich transportation a little more...11.gif
But it's all personal preference. I am hoping to see some more growth around Norwich, maybe an rivalling metropolis?
Nonetheless, keep up the good work. Hope t see more of this soon.3.gif
