Water Supply, Demand Problem

I am having an issue with water demand. I am playing the game with no mods of any kind. I have a city of about 250K on a large map. The city fills about a third of the map. I have three large water pumps installed that gives me more than enough water for my city. However, i keep getting more and more no water icons. They pop up in a line of buildings that are in between some water pipes. my water pipes are criss crossing at about 6 tiles apart. I keep making more and more pipes but the problem keeps coming back. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome to Simtropolis...

Did you build any of your water producing facilities near industrial areas? Check your water pollution graph. It's possible that pollution is causing the facilities to shut down. Water facilities need to be built in "clean" areas.

There's also a question of Age of these Pumps, with age they loose their capacity and they will have to be rebuild sometimes.

And six tiles apart is a little close for pipes. You can actually have them around 12 apart. Large water pumps are expensive so it is best to put your water facilities in residential or undisturbed areas. Areas where water pollution accumulates (farms, industrial) will eventually shut down your pumps. If you are having water pollution problems, install one or more water purification plants.

I have no water pollution to speak of. I just replaced my treatment plant so thats not an issue. I know that 6 tiles apart too close, but I kept building my pipes closer and closer to together and I kept getting brown spots all over. It may be the age of my pumps. I have three now. I had two large pumps and like four small, but I replaced the four small ones with one large. I guess I could replaced the orginal two large pumps, but I dont think they are that old.

Right click on the pumps and it will reveil their capacity and age. Compare this to new ones and you'll see a difference. If not, well you got a pollution problem.

I am having the exact same problem. Big map, 270k residents 3 or 4 large pumps plus around 80 water towers and I get non-watered buildings between the pipes every decade or so. Pollution is fine. Pumps are all new. The water supply graph indicates that I am producing almost double the demand yet still the water will not circulate at the same pressure as it has since the city began.

What is the deal? Did you ever resolve this issue mystery1932?

Water supplies have a limited life time and if you have a lot of them you have a big problem just keeping up with them as they wear out.

One solution to all this is to use a big water engine that can supply a very large area. I've never needed more than two of
