i took the region view and then photoshoped it - cropped it and changed the perspective so that it's flat, as opposed to being at an angle.

Great job!! It's impressive, and NY is well-recreated, although it's very hard.

, but the NY/NJ metro area has to be up there with the hardest, and you've nailed it. Is your population anywhere near the 11 million metro population yet???

    ----------------

New York city has a metropolitan population of around 21,800,000 people. The city itself, has just over 8,000,000. It is the third hargest metropolitan center in the world, the largest being Tokyo- Metro pop.: 33,900,000; city pop.: 9,000,000. New York isn't the largest city, either. The city-owned land of Timmins, Ontario covers over 3000 sq. Km! If you stood in the middle of Timmins (and probably New York, but I'm not too sure) and everything was at sea level, you would NOT be able to see the entire city-owned area because of the curveture of the Earth! Same thing with Tokyo.

here's an update of downtown manhattan with the world trade center tower made by the extremely talented and skilled rubik3. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif> they're really great.   for some strange reason, i can't seem to see the building lights (on these and any bat buildings i dled so far) at night time.  i upgraded the patch like everyone suggested but it still doesn't work... any thoughts?

Let's not get into a political discussion, and the last time americans came to europe's aid was the second world war. Just to clarify things. CANADA RULES!!!

This is a quote I read in my school history textbook. I can't remeber who it is from, though: Do you ever notice, the Americans are always ready to help others, but others are never ready to help Americans? I'm not sure who, I think it might be by a CFRB Radio host.

And, a quote by an American: Canadians don't have many heroes, and not much history. -from an essay by Rochester, NY University student.

-Canadians asked for their Independance. And, since we're sooo intimidating, we got it!

First part may not always be completely true, but still, it's pretty much valid. I mean, everyone hated war in Iraq, now they're asking the US to send troops to Haiti and all.

How do you get a tunnel to go underwater like the Lincoln tunnel shown in the screenshot?

Build a hill steep enough for a tunnel right at the edge of a river, then the road should make an underwater tunnel. It is expensive, though.

Hey, vidioman, are you a Canadian, your post didn't make that clear.

To our neihboors in America, we love you guys, we really do. You give us so many cool things, like the sports illustrated Swimsuit Edition. You are kind, understanding, and personable people. Unfortunately, a few pompous lowlifes who hate everything that isn't familiar, give America a bad name. Poloticians eager to screw your good friends to the north closed the border to safe Canadian beef, we took fire for not taking part in a war that wasn't internationally backed, and for some reason people like Robert Novak feel that our socialist healthcare system, makes us all weenies. This doesn't reflect Americans as a whole, any anti-Americanism that exists in Canada is infounded ingnorance, Americans are good people, and like before, we love you.

i don't exactly want to get in this discussion, but i just have to say a few things. most people forget, and don't realize, that the French helped the Americans gain their independence from Britain. if it wasn't for them the war would have been much different. I'm not French either, i was born in Europe, but I live in the States now. your arrogance, not all americans, is a reason why some europeans dislike american people, every country has people like that, but i can see it here the most. i don't feel like writing an essay or anything, so i am going to stop.

Anyways, your New York looks great; the WTC is definitely a good addition to your city.

The only Americans I have a problem with are the ones that have a problem with me! I like the US! Everything is cheaper! Except healthcare. Ours is free! The most I have ever paid for medical help is $7.35 cents! That was because I was late picking up a prescription! Now, lets let More picture be posted, and end this off-topic nonsense!

i'm caught between whether i should continue to do the rest of the new york city regions (outer boroughs), which for non-new yorkers, may not be all that interesting... or whether i should do the real-scale manhattan region that i've started a thread for ( https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=46134&forumID=36&catID=8&search=1&searchstring=&sessionID={8F8FAF37-DF9C-4EAE-A561-BFF4FC09C269 } The latter is even more accurate, with not only every street made (the former is a condensed version of new york city), but i also dled the new york city zoning plan so that even the zones r recreated, block by block.  what do y'all think?  haha and on top of that, i should study to at least finish up my last semester with a semi-decent grade... <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>

dc82: Great job on New York City! It's such a treat to see the towers back in their place. As for being able to see the lights at night, check that you have everything installed in the proper order: SimCity 4, Update, Rush Hour, Update, gmax, BAT Tool, Update. Also, make sure you play the game with the Rush Hour CD-ROM. Sometimes no-CD patches and fixed .exe files can interfere. Good luck! As you might imagine, the towers at night are breathtaking in-game as they once were in real life. 1.gif
