The biggest and best power plant requires residential zones to exist. How do you guys who want to put the power plant outside of your big city do it?

Do I just have to put it in the corner of my biggest city and live with it or something?

    Welcome to Simtropolis!

I don't know about the residential requirement,But if you have a power

plant in city 1 in your region you can add a neighbor deal by running

power lines to the end your city to the next. Then save that city exit it then

load city 2 & you now have power lines pop up to connect power to that

    city.

The power plant does not have to placed in a corner it can go anywhere

in city 1,just remember to run power lines from it to the end of your city at

the side at which the city is on that you want the power to go to for the

    neighbor deal.

That's the info I think you wanted other then that I don't Know.

    Hi,

Yes I know this but look at this chart:

    http://strategywiki.org/wiki/SimCity_4/Power

    Nuclear Power plant

    Residental population: 85,000

Doesn't that mean I have to have 85,000 residents in that specific city to build one?

Unfortunately it does--a way to cope with this would be to download some high capacity power plant, put it in some side tile and have it connected to the major city tiles; the other is to get an energy demand so big that you need the powerplant (there's an alternative obtention threshold for the nuclear powerplant--IIRC, 25,000 MWh/month demand in the city). Now, due to the nature of nuclear powerplants, these are supposed to be placed more away from city centers, so it's indeed unrealistic being forced to place it inside a big city. A better requirement would be based on regional population, industrial activity or regional power demand.

Just because some power plants do not become available until you reach a specific population threshold does not mean you have to have residential to have a plant. This is only the rather dicey nuclear plant. If you really want better plant, search the STEX.
