What items are you attempting to use the DAMN with? Do you have those items installed? Even when using DAMN, the items need to be present in the Plugins for them to be used. Also, if the items have been installed, did you ru the Indexer located in the DAMN/Support folder?

I have a problem with DAMN that's similar to the one Schmyzz has. I get the same menu in-game, but I think it's because the working directory for my SimCity 4 shortcut has "Apps" in it. However, I also have an issue with DAMN itself. I tried to create a menu for some canal pieces, but I ended up getting an error message that read "Index can't be generated. Check your permissions!" Any ideas or suggestions about what to do?

The pathname for SC4 is supposed to have Apps in it. So it is not that. Did you check the permissions on the files? Check the DAMN documentation, but I believe all you need is read permission. I can't imagine that it would want anything greater than simply the ability to read the files and folders.

FYI: here is my complete pathname, and yours should be similar.

C:/Program Files/Maxis/SimCity 4 Deluxe/Apps/SimCity 4.exe

But everything still shows up in the original menus. My parks menu is still super long. Someone suggested how to get rid of them using iLive reader, but I don't feel computer literate enough to do that so I got rid of DAMN.

That's a shame, if you use the SSPTool to add stuff to your DAMN menu there is an option to hide it from the original menus.

It is a bit tricky to set up at first, but well worth the hassle once you work it out, you seemed to be so close :)

Sorry, tricky, finicky tools are not in my line of appreciation. This kind of thing should always be written with the KISMIF principle in mind.

It's a good principle :)

I only found SSPTool and DAMN tricky when learning them, once you know how it works it's a piece of cake.

Easier than that iLive Reader thingy, that's a tricky tool if ever I saw one.

What do people use for menu organisation then? Is there another (better) way?

No, but if I was still in the programming business I'd try to find a way to just drag the items out of the standard menu into the new one, with an option to remove the old one. I think this would have to be a mod in the .exe which is not currently allowed.

C'mon, EA, you've pi..ed this game to death, so why not make it abandonware now?
