WooW!! Beautiful!! It's will be nice if you do the Arch, like Zeram said.29.gif

ZeramZeram : it's not the us7 but Dusk did a building that really look like it.  It's his version of the us7.  It's the PanPacific Building, and you can download  it here .

Yep I think I just might do the whole Union Square! All the buildings there are just so wonderful I don't see why not. I'm still waiting for a reply in the Transit Enabled Forum to see is a Transit Enabled Lot can grow, because we all know the Victory Arch has a bus mall in the middle, or maybe it doesn't (I thought it did).
I will definetly look into Barby's discovery that could solve a lot of problems in the future.

Make only a landmark, you could convert it later into a residential building (hopefully).
In real scale the building takes probably 10-12 fields. According to my estimation the building has a length of 150m.

Yes, TEs can grow. The only disadvantage is that they can't be overgrown by other buildings automatically.

But where's the problem? Making an LM with TE first and a growable without TE afterwards isn't rocket science, either...9.gif

Just to give you an idea of just how big this thing is, and how detailed it is, this picture here shows my progress as I lay out the detail according to the references...and I haven't even reached the roof yet!!!22.gif<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//HBdemo4.jpg align=baseline>

Hordijk: So true my friend, I believe I have come across my 1st major problem! The building is just too #$@%ed big! I'm using 3DS MAX 5 with the BATver2, I don't know much about cameras but it looks like they need to be adjusted as you can see in this test render, the upper part is darkened because the LOD cameras are too low. If anybody has some ideas about this please post it here or PM me. Meanwhile I will continue to work on the BAT and get it finished.

And I hope you solve your technical problems.

Yeap it seems to be, but as it isn't the finished item, it may be more to do with the sides not being complete yet.

There is the ultra huge camera light rig someone made for big buildings.  I think it might be in the BAT workshop.  I think it had it's own sticky too.

The building is looking realy good.  I hope it doesn't overwhelm your computer though!

Don't worry HONG KONG: that is just the front, once completed it will be pretty thick the dimensions is about 96x40 and about 296 tall. When I test I don't bother with fleshing out the whole thing since the back is just a inverted mirror image of the front I just leave it out to speed up the render.

paulvmontfort: Yeah, the building is very high, each floor is exactly 4 meters, with an additional 5 floors at the base. The Harbourside is a whopping 74 stories tall. I am not too sure but it just may be the highest residential building in the world, though I heard Australia is building one that could surpass it. so 74x4meters = 296meters tall. Whew!

Jasoncw: Yeah I downloaded that rig, its in my gmax folder. Tonight I will see if I can just copy it to my 3DS Max5 folder and hopefully it will fix this issue.

Well, there must be a fix for your problem, because otherwise all those big skyscrapers on the STEX couldn't exist.

The building looks absolutely great so far, btw! 29.gif

Ok. Was checking through my files for 3DS Max5 and it looks like I didn't install the CameraRigs in 3DS file, I found them in the HugeCameraRigDownload and placed them in the folder. Its rendering now, so we should see and update soon, prolly in a hour or two. 5.gif

    I expressed myself again wrongly.21.gif
Which I wanted to say was:  The building is 255m high and about 150m long.  If a field has 12m, the length should amount to 12 fields.  (150/12=12,5)  Otherwise it appears too high.
By the way, it is world-wide the number eight.  Fifty of the hundred world-wide largest residential buildings are in HK.44.gif

If that is the case HONG KONG then you are absolutely right the building is simply too high. Strange though it is 74 stories, and some tutorials on BATting recomended 4 meters for residential and 4.5 - 5 meters for commercial. I could go back and remodel the height of the rooms to 3.5 that would put the building to approx. 74 x 3.5 = 259 meters tall. Before the render I played around with the HUGE Camera Rig Scene, and made my own, it seems to have made a better render I think, but there is still some lingering shadow. Y'll see in a bit. [Edit: Wow if the real building is that wide then I have really squished down its width and length and retain only its height, no wonder it looks too tall.]

Ok heres the next update, I modified the camera rig, as you can see it helped a little but there is still some darkness at the very top, the sides are almost done though not perfect... we're getting close. Obviously I am going to have to go through some textures to find the right stuff for that neat blue look from the references...<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//HBtest5.jpg align=baseline>

Put it next to the Sham Wan Towers as a reference of scale.

I am planning on adding a semi visible sky line texture to all of the glass material, plus a multicolord flooring to each level, this will greatly improve the look, make the blue's darker, (they are very bright becuase they are transparent and there is nothing visible behind them) all these in place should create a great scene with many different irregularities and chop up the robot-consistancy seen in the previous views.
I am further going to play with the camera positions and lighting so that the building is rendered better. If it comes out looking real good I might upload the CameraRigHuge scene by request.
