If you're on Windows Vista or 7, the SC4Mapper won't work without doing quite a bit of tweaking. What happens is that "\u" is used as a special key by the program. Unfortunately, Vista and 7 put the Documents folder containing the regions and plugins for SC4 inside "C:\Users\...", and this path contains "\u", so the program will crash.

I think there is a tutorial somewhere explaining how to overcome this, but I just use the Terraformer, so I never bothered to fix it myself. You can try using the Terraformer; you need to make sure that there is an older version of MSVCP71.DLL and MSVCR71.dll in the same folder as the Terraformer install ({this is the link in the readme} to MSVCP71.dll). Or perhaps someone else knows how to get the Mapper to work in Vista / 7?

Check out this THREAD on SC4D for a fix to run SC4Mapper under Windows 7.

You may also need to manually install DLL files. Check the documentation for details on that - or you can find more information in the above thread.
