first I want to thanks to the people that has the energy to put help topics to us, I used so many of them but i did not manage to get it :(I´M sorry but I just spend 2 days trying to install the NAM on mac, i tried one thousand ways and reed one thousand blogs and forums and saw one thousand videos that made it look so simple, like one that said just drag to juicer and then drag to plugins and magic it´s done lol I even send messages crying for help to users that had the same problems that i did!!

no roundabouts, lots of the same subway in the menubar, no diferente rodes, the croses that I was able to put and was able to switch the kind in the /END button sim city did not recognize them, they were there when I put, but I did not had a raising on the cash because of the monthly payment, and when I putted the question mark on the new streets it did not show nothing :/

and from what i could see there is a ratio of 1 person in 1000 that can put the nam on mac :/

my plugins folder is clean, I have a simcity bought" on the internet i think thats called a steam version :/ (this maybe is also why I can´t get this, computers is not my strong point :/ )

please, I know that there are lots of topics in the forum with tips but I´m sure I tried them all ( except one that said to use the TERMINAL but once I started, I knew it was to complicated to me, but if this is the only way I´ll try it) so if there is a gentle soul that can explain every little step every very little step with the least complicated words, imagine that you are explaining to a complet moron :) lol I WOULD BE GRATEFULLY FOR EVER, VERY VERY GRATEFULLY :)

it´s sad wanting to play a little bit of simcity 4, but since I know that there are this things (mods, that´s how you call them i think) that can make the game better, when I play the game i´m always thinking if I had that , if I had the nam I would make things more cool, or if I had those parks, or those different power lines because I just always hated those red and white and giant one´s :/ lol

once more thank you all again and hope to have an answer!!!

bye bye simcitizens :)

First off, welcome to ST, John!

I'll admit, I'm a PC user who has some familiarity with Macs, though I've never tried running SC4 on one. But as a NAM Team developer and the guy who currently handles the packaging of our releases, I'll see if I can help out here.

The installer that the Windows version of the NAM uses is a Nullsoft (NSIS) installer . . . the FileJuicer program does not work on NSIS installers, so there's not a way to run that installer on a Mac, unfortunately. (We've experimented with a Java-based cross-platform that does work on Macs, but we have yet to deploy it.)

In order to install the NAM on a Mac, you'll need to manually install it from the .zip file in the NAM for Mac package. Unzip the .zip file and take a look inside the unzipped folder. You'll see a folder called "Documentation"--inside there, there will be an HTML (web page) file called "2.InstallationInstructionsFile.htm". That contains the instructions as to which files from your newly unzipped NAM for Mac package that you should move over to your SC4 Plugins folder.

Additionally, if you're running Mac OS X Lion, you're going to run into difficulties using the NAM because of the Aspyr Universal Binary patch (which is required to run SC4 on that operating system since Rosetta functionality was removed in that release).

Hopefully, that should give you a starting point. An actual SC4 Mac user may be able to give you some better info on the subject.

Well, I don't know what you've been reading, but I defiantly suggest that you download the mac version of the NAM and read the documentation that comes with it. With that you can't fail with installing the NAM, its a perfect guide.

If this fails then post a couple of pictures with the files that you have tried to instal, and then we can tell you which shouldn't be there and which should.

Also, what version of OSX are you on? There are a couple of new problems that have arisen with Lion.

hello:)thanks very very much for your help, I just need a little bit more of your time please! just to confirm that i´m set to go:) actually the document you said for me to reed was the first document i reed but there were same sentences that misdirect me and I guive up reading it at the middle:/ so I lost two days reading and viewing rubbish and worst, not playing simcity :) LOLOLOL so I hope this is ok, I´m going to put pictures of my folders, 1- the files I choose, 2- the files that I left out. AH my version is snow leopard, sadly my computer doesn´t accept the Lion, it´s geting old, poor thing:) but for the first time I´m happy, or by now I would have more problem to have Nam on my computer:)lololol sorry i´m detouring the purpose of this topic:)

so here are my doubts and if you see something wrong on the pictures or need pictures of any other folder that could help me with this just tell me, i would be thankful:

    i´m making like this:

( user/documents/simcity4/plugins/nam/ folders of NAM) is this ok?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1.

    NetworkAddonMod1.dat - The instructions says 1 to 5 of this documents but I have a 6 like NetworkAddonMod6.dat, should I ignore it?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    2.

    WHERE TO PUT THIS:

NetworkAddonMod_OverpassUpdate_Maxis_Components_Plugin.dat (this is in the NAM plugins folder, should I let it there? )

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    3.

in the instruction says that I need to use one of each, Do I have to chose now, or I put them all and then I can chose on the game?? i reed the "see witch" but didn´t get it :/

    Traffic_plugins_...

    Automata_plugins_…

    Volume_Data_View_...

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    4.

additional bridges plugin - should i put like this :

    ( user/documents/simcity4/plugins/nam/plugins/additional bridges_plugin.dat) OR

    ( user/documents/simcity4/plugins/nam/additional bridges/additionalbridges_plugin.dat)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    5.

I deleted the deutsch language, is there a problem??

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    6.

Where should I put the remaining files?

well this is it :) once more thank you thank you and probably I will thank you again later :) hope not to annoy you with so many questions :/

NetworkAddonMod6.dat is a new addition to Version 30. Treat it like any other NetworkAddonMod#.dat file--I'd recommend having it in there.

    2.

    WHERE TO PUT THIS:

NetworkAddonMod_OverpassUpdate_Maxis_Components_Plugin.dat (this is in the NAM plugins folder, should I let it there? )

Yeah, I'd leave it in the NAM\Plugins folder. It mostly contains color-corrected network textures to improve the appearance of overpass models.

    3.

in the instruction says that I need to use one of each, Do I have to chose now, or I put them all and then I can chose on the game?? i reed the "see witch" but didn´t get it :/

    Traffic_plugins_...

    Automata_plugins_…

    Volume_Data_View_...

Choose now. Otherwise, the game will just load whatever one comes last alphabetically--there's no way to choose in-game.

    4.

additional bridges plugin - should i put like this :

    ( user/documents/simcity4/plugins/nam/plugins/additional bridges_plugin.dat) OR

    ( user/documents/simcity4/plugins/nam/additional bridges/additionalbridges_plugin.dat)

That one isn't critical on load order, so it doesn't matter too much, but I'd generally recommend keeping the folder structure essentially the same as the .zip package has it (which would involve the second directory setup you listed).

    5.

I deleted the deutsch language, is there a problem??

No, not unless you're trying to run the game in German.

    6.

Where should I put the remaining files?

Anything that is in the \Plugins folder of the NAM .zip should stay there, generally, particularly since some of them (like the Turning Lane and Roundabout Plugins) contain duplicate copies of Individual Network RULs designed to override the base ones in NetworkAddonMod_IndividualNetworkRULs.dat, and need to load after that file. Things like the Controller, Bridge Controller and Individual Network RUL files should go in the main NAM directory.

The Controller Marker file (NetworkAddonMod_a_ControllerMarker.dat) is a useful diagnostic tool if you are upgrading NAM versions--I'd keep it.

The z_Left_Hand_Drive_Plugin folder contains the LHD Plugin, and is necessary if you are running a British or Japanese copy of the game (where cars drive on the left side of the road by default). Otherwise, it's not needed. Most other peripheral NAM Plugins (such as the RHW, NWM, etc.) also have LHD Plugins that need to be installed if you're adding those.

The Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool is basically a tool designed to customize your traffic simulator settings--it's useful to have around. I'd also bring the Documentation into your installation folder, for handy reference.

The Additional Bridges folder is mostly designed to be a convenient spot to place additional bridges off the STEX and LEX . . . it's not a strictly necessary part of the file architecture, though.

    Thanks for everything Tarkus :)

I really appreciate:) it´s just a pity that with all that was done to simcity by all you people, there would be a super perfect simcity by now!!!:( but that would be bad for business, than who would buy cities xl, and societies, and all the crap... the marketing of the game industry is just screwing with us all :/ when a game can reach max potencial, they kick it!! and then start again another game so they have room to make more series of crapy games to sell more and more:/ it is just a shame... but let´s laugh, and dream that a simcity fan win a lottery and decides to make the best simcity ever :) lol

    I know I would :) hihihihi

once more thank you very much :) best regards

No need to answer a topic that's almost 2 years old and is already answered.   ;)
