Hello Simtropolis!

I'm new :D I've only recently got back into SC4 having had it for years :P Now I've been averaging like 3 hours a day >.<

So yeah, I want to expand my experience but my laptop has little space, and I have little patience... Can someone show me some decent buildings and stuff that have very few dependencies? Thanks :D

Welcome to Simtropolis! I guess it's a bit hypocritical of me welcoming new members so soon when I am too a new member… but welcome anyway.

Well, you may want to explain what you consider "decent buildings", because that could vary based on your opinion. But from the viewpoint of someone who has recently started giving plugins a try after years of having the authentic SC4 experience, I recommend the BATs of madhatter106 due to their excellence, simplicity, lack of dependencies, and perfect ability to blend in with Maxis structures.

That's a pretty tall order... It might help to narrow down what you are seeking. The exchanges have grown over the years, with many, many great items. Help us help you by being a bit more specific in your tastes...

You'll find a heap of really cool stuff by using the search filters on the STEX. Search for stuff with the highest ratings or numbers of downloads/reviews and you'll soon find some really interesting content.

As for essential BATs... well that's really a matter of what appeals to you. There are literally thousands out there so you've an almost endless variety to choose from. A couple of our best BATers you might want to check out... these are just the guys that come to mind... Jasoncw, Nofunk, Simfox, Bixel, Paulvmontfort and Odainsaker. These guys often use little or no dependencies in their lotting.

My preferences would be commercial high-wealth buildings, industrial developments and residential skyscrapers.

And thanks Kirkland, they're awesome :D

    Aww, shucks. :)

I would also recommend the works of dk1, who has also done a lot of commercial stuff, as well as some good grungy-urban stuff. He also doesn't use dependencies. jmyers2043 is a great inspiration for me, and he has done a number of commercial buildings as well as some superb, sublime industrials. And his farms are some of the best out there, in my opinion. His stuff is available on the LEX over at SC4Devotion. If I recall correctly, many don't have dependencies, or if they do, they are minimal in number and usually ones that are shared by a large number of BATS/lots.

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.
(I get tired of saying that in BAT threads.)

"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level." - Quentin Crisp
"I believe in talking behind peoples' backs. That way, they hear it more than once." - Fran Lebowitz
"Ordinary morality is for ordinary people." - Aleister Crowley
"No one ever said on their deathbed, 'Gee, I wish I had spent more time alone with my computer.' " - Dani Bunten Berry

Fantastic, Gabzas; glad I could be of some assistance there, but thank madhatter himself for actually creating those BAT packs…
