It looks like a zero pointer bug. However, it also appears that you haven't updated your game with the latest patches, which is essential whether or not you're using custom content.

I think I worked out the CTD issue. It happened whenever I was zoomed all the way out. It seems a farm build event and a trans check event that SC4 runs, caused the crashes. I think I have temporarily worked through this particulair CTD. I am awaiting the next set of new causes of CTDs. Thanks anyways

Zooming out so far like that will almost definitely crash the game, especially if you're using the mouse wheel. It's a good idea to get into the habit of using the keyboard for most commands, because there is a strong theory in the CTD mill about the mouse pushing too many commands on the game at once and shutting it down.

Loaded Modules Irrelevant from here on because we don't have the load map and source.

I most strongly recommend that you visit this site and get the two patches needed.

Perhaps an upgrade of your operating system to NT6.1 would help. If you don't have enough hardware to run Windows 7, consider dropping back to Windows XP. Vista is not very stable.

Once SP1 was released, Vista ran better than XP; it was the initial release of Vista that had so many problems. I ran SC4 on Vista for a long time with virtually no stability issues. (I now run Windows 7.) I would definitely not recommend dropping back to Windows XP, which is less secure and also crashes more frequently.

Vista is very stable. Always has been, even before the service packs.

It's not Windows 7, but then again, Windows 7 is a refined version of Vista to begin with...

Vista is NT6.0. I hardly ever run the initial version of a new system. There is no doubt that 6.1 (W7) is much improved. I look on Vista as a public beta for W7.

I am waiting for the first dump from W8 to find out what its real name is.

    Noony Moose,

Thanks for the translation. I have gone through the suggestions and found that I lacked a patch. Apparantly, I had neglected to apply the patch, a few years back when I had to reload SC4. The simple patch was the cause of all my issues. The only problem I am having now is that a few twitches that I was using to build my city are no longer available. For example for the last few years I was able to over-ride certain terrain features, while in game play. For now these twitches/cheats are no longer available due to me reistalling the patch. I used to be able to use the ped-tiles to change the surfaces of above and below water items to sandstone, cobblestone, and grass; but the patch has now limited my ability to change these. One asthetic cheat I would do, was to overlay grass ped-tile over my fence lines to rid the ugly dirt paths. Not that ability is gone, but I have found other asthetically appeasing ways to fix these. To make a long story short, the simple patch was the cause of three years of constant CTD. Now I will be ready soon to release my Gotham CJ, that has been two years in the works. A storyline CJ that takes place in 1984 Gotham City (Yes this is Batman's City). My CJ will be starring the OCCB of GCPD (Organized Crime Control Bureau)and how they investigate crimes committed in Gotham, while having to deal with vigilante interference of "superheros".

Take a look at the Street Addon Mod which has several textures to replace the gray street texture. There is still the open grass area park as well. Usually you can flatten terrain by dropping single road tiles on it. The SAM is an extension of the NAM, so you also need it.

Yes, I have already had those addons for many years now and have updatted them as updates became available, thanks. Due to the patch "fixes", some bugs that I was able to "cheat" with on asthetics are no longer functioning the way that I have been using them. So I will have to discover other creative fixes, as I do not "pretty up" my pictures using photoshop/GIMP. A nice bug in the system was the ability to use SAM and ped-tiles to resurface items in the game-play mode. Thanks for your first common sense answer to my long-standing CTD issue. Darn, it is hard to believe that I have been a sc4 juckie for 8 years, and a sc addict for over 15. Time flies when you are having fun!

Well, mon ami, I suggest that using the presence of an undocumented feature (bug) is chancy at best. You could use the bat to make single texture lots, or maybe even the lot editor. Just change the texture of the open grass area park.
