STEX File Download on Google

Today I found this. You will have to log into google to see it. It is a download of my STEX file, Jack3oh3 Money Lot. But it is not on Simtropolis, it's on google!

It is all the files included in the zip. Did someone upload this on google? Is it downloading from Simtropolis? Is this even legal?

It's been standard community policy to respect the rights of creators to distribute their own files. Whoever did this obviously either hasn't been around long, or simply doesn't care and is wantonly disregarding the "gentlesim's rule". It's probably a pretty safe bet they're not a custom content creator themselves. If you can find any contact info, I'd definitely get in touch with whomever uploaded that there and ask them to take it down.

In the future, I'd probably include a EULA explicitly forbidding redistribution without your permission.

@ jack3oh3: If you click where it says "File", right under Jack3oh3 Money Tree Lot.zip, you will be able to see who uploaded the file (someone named Renjong) and report abuse where violation of copy rights is an option

He has the same name on ST here. 0 posts 0 views 0 anything. Looks like all he does is download.

Ages ago, one of my low wealth packs was bundled with a super-downloads pack that has been torrented across the face of the earth numerous times. Ultimately I can't get too peeved over it, since I was offering the content for free to begin with at this site, so it's not like I was getting anything out of it other than the sharing in-and-of itself.

Was I happy with it? Not really - but am I upset over it? No. It's 2011, we're eyeball deep in the information age...stuff like this is gonna happen. I can't waste the energy to get upset over it.

Plus in my case, short of going into the Reader and removing my custom images for the queries and removing mention of my name in the query header notes itself, I'm cemented to the uploads in-game whenever you click on them...and I doubt someone went through the trouble of removing my stamp on these before they bundled them into a .torrent file and clicked "share."

Generally speaking, all four of my BAT lots contain one frame from my avatar as a texture. Good luck for anyone trying to change them.

It could take a while. I'd just forget about it, then you get an e-mail from them months from now and wonder...What is this about???
