Apple has reported to the media that the former long time CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, has died.

Under Steve Jobs, Apple radically changed the way technology is involved people's daily lives and his contributions will surely be missed.

RIP Steve Jobs.

Since nobody seems to recall, the company has been running with Tim Cook at the wheel since August when Steve Jobs stepped down as CEO, and Steve also took medical leaves with Tim Cook running the company for a significant portion of the last few years. While his death is a serious thing, it's not going to effect the overall performance of the company.

Back on topic, I find this news incredibly saddening as he has influenced a lot of the tech I use and has made significant changes to the way we all use technology in our daily lives. He will be missed.

Okay, that didn't merge together exactly like I had thought it would, but nevertheless, I did combine both of the Steve Jobs threads.

As for the news and the future of Apple, we will have to see what comes in the next several years. Steve Jobs is the reason Apple is relevant today. It may be possible to sustain things as they are without him at the helm, but that is very debatable.

Only officialy left in August, but has been reclusive since January.

but its really not that big of a surprise is it?,considering his ill health for the last few years.

He survived 7 years after pancreatic cancer.

RIP Steven Jobs.

Hope the guys you left in charge dont run the thing off a cliff.

Wow, most of us know the shaved-headed Steve Jobs of today's resurgent Apple, replete with iProducts for iEveryone. Some of us, however, may remember the younthfully headstrong and long-haired Jobs domineering over a different era of innovation:

Always the visionary showman splashing the covers of the consumer journals (gosh, I think I still have those issues!) and flaunting the sclerosis of IBM, too late did he realize and acknowledge that other Pirate of Silicon Valley poised to prevail...

True titans of technology!

Our introduction to Apple Macintosh, back in 1984. It was shown once, during the superbowl that year.

Those of us who saw it live were wondering what the heck that was all about.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Truely, the world has lost a technological innovator. A man and visionary who will be remembered for a huge contribution to the modern-era technology boom.

Rest In Peace, Steve.

I feel sad that his gone. A few of my mates are sad too about his death. Born in 1955 and passed away today 6th october 2011. I may not own any apple products. But I might be getting a Ipod touch for xmas. But the good thing is they found someone to take his spot. He named this wonderful company after his favourite food. (Apple)

He invented many things. Without some of his things there would be no Itunes stone. Ipod, Iphone etc. Steve Jobs done a lot for us. Alot of people were fans of him and a few seasons ago he appeared in the Simpsons something about Mypod.

He was famous, Popular, Rich. and now his gone. How is his family going to go through life knowing his gone forever. If I lived with him I would be pretty

upset. And i'm sure his four kids will miss him very much too.:cry:

Steve you were a great guy. We loved your apple products from square 1. To know. As we say goodbye to a great person. We will never forget what he did for us.

RIP Steve Jobs

A creative voice is stilled. In the recent press he has been compared to Henry Ford. Requiescat in pace.

R.I.P. Steve, your legacy will never be forgotten... (including the machine that I am typing from)

I've just remembered, I've been casually re-lotting this Apple Store BAT. I ought to speed it up, as a fitting tribute to one of the world's greatest innovators. 12.gif

That would be a great SC4-style tribute.

I've already posted in this list, but I note that Steve was only 56. I remember the first apple machine with a GUI, and it was astonishing. "Only the good die young." - common saying.

My father's got two old Apple II computers, the original Macintosh (a distant grandchild of which I am typing on!) and many more old machines. It's a shame that he has died, I have heard that the same (or a similar) pancreatic cancer that he recovered from in 2004 has struck him again? One news website (I can't remember which) showed a picture of him at the end of August, and I was shocked. He has seemed to age 30-40 years in the space of a few months! 34.gif

R.I.P.

P.S. Your quote reminds me, although I am too young myself to know precisely... Ayrton Senna, Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Sladen, Amy Winehouse particularly, to name but a few.

So those people from Westboro Baptist Church used an iPhone to tweet that they must picket his funeral. Apparently God created the iPhone so they could tweet that Steve Jobs is in hell. [link] :whatevs:

Are these people hypocrites, irrational, or just plain stupid?

Never mind . . . don't answer that . . . Let's just laugh at the irony of it.

Requiescat In Pace, Steve Jobs.

It's so sad to see that such a visionaire, such an inspirational person is gone. Even though I'm not a hardcore Mac user, I admire Steve Jobs, admired his work. I admired how he went over the hurdles in front of him, specially during his university period (I also got a rocky start there until I finally settled in another degree) and built an empire. Obviously, he hasn't been alone in Apple; but its innovative thought has pushed the company and the entire world to a whole new stage.

I'm sure I've leart a thing from him, which I put in practice always I have to: his product introductions style. I try to replicate his style (short and clear sentences, emphatizing words, walking on the stage...) when I have to give a presentation or a speech, and this has helped me a lot to be a better speaker. Some of my fellows and friends panic when they have to speak in public, I don't, I even have fun; thanks to him.

wonder if they realy want to mess with a bunch of tech geeks.

Picket his funeral and go home to find all their systemes hacked.

not that i would condone those types of actions. :ninja:

Anyone see the recent Supernatural episode during which the WBC got their just desserts from "god"?

I reserve a special place in my private hell for people like that. It involves pits of flaming tar, and pushing rocks up hill, forever while being coated with it and razor sharp feathers. Healing occurs routinely.

God; not these people again. If Gandhi had recently died, I suppose they would have protested his funeral too.
