I know that is two games. I wanted to relate that I installed both of these yesterday and set them up for Win95 compatability.

SimCity2000 took 20.8mb to install, Highest game speed setting was so fast, that I couldn't turn it off, before the year end window, would pop up and freeze everything. hehe. IT finally crashed, when I attempted to go window mode. The Skurk works great!

SimTower took 8.0mb to install, and I am happy to say, it plays flawlessly! I would love to see new shops made for this 2D game, just to add more variety. There are still website up for both of these games and some work pretty well. I couldn't mod the SimTower game though, because XP cannot read the execute files. Boohoo.

Anyone else out there, still finding joy, from playing these games? Please let us know?

Can anyone tell me how to mod the Tower game, using WinXP?

I am still thoroughly enjoying SC2000. But I am not sure how to install the mod for SimTower for I have never played it.

SC2000 still is awesome! 19.gif

Slowhand: SC2000; Yes, it is awesome! I was playing the Chicago scenario, to test it out. all was working well, until I tried to minimize the game window. That's when the ticker announced Crash. No troubles with display, just avoid that top speed setting. Heheee.

I had the same troubles with it crashing, back when I first bought it for Win95. I will try playing it again later and see if I can avoid crashes.

SimTower is okay, but not nearly as much fun as SC2, 3 or 4.

I also have; SimCity Classic, Streets of SimCity, SimIsland, SimPark, SimTown, etc.  SimIsland used DOS, so I haven't attempted installing it.

Both still work fine for me and they are on disks (Good ol' days), I remember a cheat where you could boost your funds for both games up to... what was it... $2,000,000,000 ?? I have Simcopter too, although it seems very buggy and annoyingly diffucult to handle/control. lol.

There's a debug mode on Yoot Tower, and a double-your-starting-funds cheat in SimTower (before anything else, lobby on far lower left corner.) I have a large number of Sim...games.

Howdy Timotheus4! Yeah, I use that cheat. I also found a zipped file that installs a hex editor for Simtower, or whatever it is. I installed it fine, but winXP doesn't seem to recognize the EXE. file.

Readme and author below. I guess I could still e-mail him maybe.

TOWERHEX.EXE is a simple utility program written in Visual
Basic that will allow you to hex edit your saved
SimTower .TDT tower files to change the star rating and/or
    the amount of remaining funds.
There are seven simple steps to using the program:
    1. Click on the drive box to select the drive where your
       files are stored.
    2. Click on the directory box to select the directory where
       your files are stored.
    3. Click on the file box to select the file that you want
       to change.
    4. Click on the read file button and you will be presented
with a display of current values.
    5. Select the star and money values that you want.
    6. Click on the write file button to save these values to disk.
    7. Click on the exit button to terminate the program.

If you have any questions or comments regarding this program,
please direct them to CCSV96A@prodigy.com or Geraldalan@aol.com

Nealos: Streets of SimCity has a lot of bugs as well. Skurk used to lose my tilesets completely at times also. Not sure if that will still happen in XP.

    Hi all,

If you can believe it. I just with in the last 2 or so months bought sim tower.  I play it now and then.  I also got streets of simcity when it came out.  That was kind of a kool game.  I liked it better the rushhour in one area. That is the fact that you could be in the vehicle. I wish they could have done that with rushhour.

I liked sc 2k  as well.  I even played with the bat for that version.

    Later dudes

    God loves you

    Hey PhatHead, My good bud!

Yes the BAT for SC2000 was called the Skurk, wasn't it? Or was there another render app., I missed? If so; I would still like to find it and try it out.

I had a tileset made for SC2k, that made all my buildings into furniture. Had couches, lounge chairs, refrigerator, etc. I wanted to change the roads to carpeting, but couldn't do that with Skurk/Urban Renewel kit.

I used to love SimTower - it was one of the first games I bought with my own money. I remember when there would be bomb threats and you'd see your security guards rushing around looking for it! I also thought it was cool how you could set the elevator settings and the express elevators - I had lots of fun trying to set up the different patterns to see what would happen. I actually found the computer lying around my house somewhere that had it installed and played it a bit - I remember how much I hated the condos.

Yes, the SimCity 2000 ad-on mod program was called Sim City Urban Renewal Kit or SCURK44.gif

Well I got the game and here are a few things I like and don't like...

I like being able to choose what resturants and shops to put in what I do not like is offices are not avalable in all the games.

otherwise its a fine game might be better once I figure it all out...

I haven't installed sc2k on my xp computer, but I did install simtower. After sc4k, it seems kinda bland. but still an old friend. I have two mods, one of them mentioned above, but couldn't get either one to run on this 'puter. Actually they were more like tools to hack the game.

someone mentioned having simcopter, and that it was kinda buggy, and the copter kinda hard to handle. seems it was that way on even my win95, and win98 'puters, too. I really enjoyed that one, especially when I could import cities I'd made in sc2k. I've debated whether to try and install it.

Ah... good ol' SimTower... I did once have a 5 star 100 storey megatower on my old Windows 95, but that computer's long since died. Here is my current largest tower at 3 stars and 34 stories (as well as 9 basement levels):

    simtowerscreenie9kt.png border=0

Notice the layout of my standard elevators. As a little test experience, I decided make 2 parallel to each other, one serving only floors with offices, and the other serving only floors with hotel rooms and condos. Both stop on commercial floors.

Even after all these years I still go back to SimTower sometimes. I think I might put in a little while right now.

Never played SimTower but it looks interesting.

Though, I have played SC2000. *Sits back in chair and reminisces*48.gif Ahh, good ole SimCity 2000. It's always nice to fire it up now and then for a bit of nostalgia.

It was the first SimCity I started playing. My interest was sparked when I discovered it on a school computer. My favorite part of SC2K is the Urban Renewal Kit and downloading great SCURK's. Adding them to the game and tweaking them to my liking was fun. In fact, I made my own New York tileset (with the help of some very talented SCURKer's of course) Eventually, I had more fun creating the buildings for NYC than actually playing the city.

SC2000 will always be a good game and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it yet.

Fischbob - I used that technique on occasion. It eventually led to transport conflicts, though. I made it to the TOWER rating on two seperate occasions.
