Airport Menu Filled?

I've downloaded quite a bit of airplanes, tarmat, terminals, and other misc. items that all have gone into my airport menu, making it take nearly a minute to scroll through. For some reason, now every time I dowload something that would go into the airport menu it won't show up. I've got all the dependencies, and it is happening to everything (not just one item).

Is it possible for a menu to become full, so that I would have to get rid of some things to get new things?

I've had bugs where my menus would scroll into blank squares, and if i hover my cursor over one square, it selects another. Does that sound familiar to your problem?

I've never heard of overloading your menus. lol I'm sure there are plenty of people who've put half the STEX into their plugins. lol Maybe it's a faulty plugin you downloaded. Remove the most recent ones you've added and see if it goes back to normal.

I don't think it's possible to have a full menu. Like Archean said some people download half the STEX and cram (especially the landmarks menu) full of stuff. I doubt it has a maximum size, must be a bug or you're doing something wrong.

I have an airport menu probably as big or maybe even bigger than yours (670 Mb) A menu cannot be filled to a point where things do NOT show up (I also have a LM menu of 5.2 Gb), but.....as Archean said, there can be bugs like white or transparent menu icons, but the lot is still available and ploppable with ALL the dependencies.

I am pretty sure that you are missing something, a dependency that has been overlooked or forgotten to download.

I keep my Plugin organized in a way that I can take out/add one or a couple of folders of things when needed or not.

As below shown, everything is by category.

Example: When I play in a citytile where I do not have an airport, than I simply take out the *Airport* folder which also contain a subfolder with all the dependencies needed for these lots to work, or if I am playing in a tile that has a seaport, that I add the *seaport* folder which again includes the subfolder with all the dependencies needed and so on. While playing the countryside, I don't need the skyscraper folder, nor the harbour, nor the airport, nor the seawalls etc....

This way I do not have to play the game with a full Plugin folder all the time that slows down the game. I can easily see when something is missing, because every folder has the subfolder with the dependencies for the lots included.

It can be frustrating when you have lots without the dependency and you think you had them all, the only way to do it properly is to download everything that each download says you need and include it with these files. Organizing the Plugins is a part of the well functional game.

;)

The Plugins in the picture below contains most of my folders for the picture only.

All the mods are in the C/Programfiles/Maxis/Plugins for faster loading, and making it a lot easier to find things. ;)

Good luck, needed now especially that you know now that you need more dependencies..... ;) Have fun.

I have pretty much gotten over the plugin glut syndrome. If you have that much stuff, when will you use it?

After all, some players only play with custom content...

Some masochistic people have a big plugin management problem, eh?

If you would have seen my MD (Winding River Project) at SC4D, you probably would see that I use all that "stuff" all the time to make it interesting. ;) Nothing to do with being masochistic, nor do I have a Plugin problem...... :noway:

If one of the lots in your airport menu has a missing icon, nothing that comes after it will display properly. If you find and either fix or remove the offending lot, your airport menu should return to normal.

Hi Lobsterav

It may even be some modification to the plugin with menu positioning that is causing your problem.

The old method of replacement would be the best thing to do:

Take half of plugins to a temp folder if not solve change with the other half he was repeating the process and go to find the problem.

always remember to always test a new plugin in a sandbox prevents many of these problems ..

I hope I have helped

Thankyou everyone for your great answers!

I've tried to see what I could do and did some organizing of my airport related plugins (made and seperated some folders). It seems that it must have worked because the new SCAG releases have appeared in the menu. There are still a few dowloads that won't show up though, so I'm going to see if I forgot some dependencies. It's still a mystery as to the root cause, but your answers have helped tremendously!
