    Hello,

I used to be addicted to SimCity back in the day when I had a PC. I do want to play it again. I have the windows disc with no dvd drive on my macbook air but I do have remote disc sharing available. Do you know if SimCity4 will work for me on my new macbook air 2011 with os x lion. All i found on these forums are people upgrading. How would I go with this?

Also, would I be able to take advantage of all the cool mods that existed when I had it on a PC like NAM and etc?

    Thanks

    Cyrus

P.S. I have 70gb left in storage. Would I also be able to use VMware fusion with windows xp and run it as a option with all the mods and it would work fine?

I can't answer the VMware question because I have not tested this for myself, but I can answer your others.

If you want to run it straight off of your mac, then you will need to buy the Mac version of SC4. The windows PC won't run on macs because it has been coded in a language that Macs don't use.

You should be able to find a copy of the Deluxe edition at a local Apple Store, or you could go online to try buy one, maybe ebay or amazon will have a copy, I haven't checked. Only the Deluxe edition will be able to be installed onto Lion. And theoretically it will with Disc Sharing, however I have a MacBook Pro, so I haven't been able to try this.

If you want to keep the PC version, then you will either need a bootcamp partition or run it on a virtual machine. I haven't tried, but this tutorial popped up recently, maybe it will help you.

I am running SC4 for Windows on a Macbook Air - Using 'Parallels' virtual machine booting Windows XP and have had no issues. Highly recommend running the windows version as it's far less buggy, and seems to run very well on the virtual machine.

What are you running it on? I tried vmware fusion with windows xp and the graphics were completely bugged.
