Are there any undepasses where the rail goes under a road/avenue? I know there are some where a road/avenue goes under the rail and there are bridges for the road/avenue as well. But is there a particular set of underpasses where the rail goes UNDER the road/avenue?

well in the NAM there are underground rail pieces, they might not look the way you are thinking of, but they would be functional. Also, next time for things like this, please use this thread: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/topic/41898-cant-find-it-ask-here/

You could just create a tunnel using the hole digging lots.

As mentioned above, NAM includes underground rail pieces that allows underpasses like this to be built.

The same can be done with avenues and other surface routes.

Apart from rail under rail, there isn't an option for that in the NAM? 45.gif

What version of NAM are you using? It should be the 3rd icon in the rail menu. Called UndergroundRail Rail Tunnel Under Roads Dual Networking Puzzle pieces.

Use the TAB-button on your keybord to flip through.. it should be near the end of the cycle

I've gone through several times and haven't seen it... I have the latest NAM (Version 29).

Here are some pics of what it looks like in-game:

From the menus:

..and from the Tab-cycle

A tip if you don't want to Tab through all puzzle pieces is to hold down Shift... this makes you go backwards.

Going backwards it should be only one Tab away.

EDIT: If you still can't find it; you might have to re-install NAM

Thanks, but that's not what I meant. The Underground rail method takes too much space.

I mean that it just takes a little dip under the road and then rises back.

Don't think so. That would be unrealistic for a rail network to drop that far in the space of one square.

You could use a Maxis tunnel (level the ground with road tiles, dig an 8m hole with these hole diggers on either side, leaving 3 tiles between the slopes, and drag the tunnel).

Or you could use a road overpass (level the ground with road tiles, dig a 15m hole with these hole diggers, drag the rail through the hole and plop onslope pieces on either side, and plop a road over rail piece in between).

The FLUP slopes are three tiles long so that they produce realistic slopes. There's more than enough options for you to choose from. 37.gif

Not just 1 tile, a series of tiles.

That's what the FLUP pieces do... Put a ramp either side of the road (first FLUP option with the portal, press SHIFT-TAB) where you want the rail to dip under, and then select the option two down. Use the perpendicular rail under road option, hover and click on top of the road in between the portals. And there, you're done! If you have any further issues, feel free to ask. 44.gif

UPDATE: NAM 30 has the Underground Rail Under Rail pieces!
