It appears to have spread to the US. I wonder if it will cross the Pacific as well?

    EDIT: Looks like it might.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Will the Murdochs appear before the Parliamentary Enquiry?

I hope so, and I hope the enquiry is empowered to subpoena and take testimony under oath.

It has been suggested that they won't appear, as US citizens the government cannot force them to.

Since they are U.S. citizens, why not just make them personna non grata?

I would agree with that, not sure about the polititions though.

Latest news is that the Murdochs have changed their minds after being summonds by the Government.

they have spin doctors. ( not the band )

probably told them its not a good idea to ignore a govt summons if they want to continue doing business there.

    This Article by the BBC.

This now shows Americans are now involved and the Murdochs and their spin doctors are in very serious trouble.

So did Fox News (Owned by News Corp) got their information by hacking phones too?

One assumes the BBC's source is unimpeachable considering the reputation of this news outlet. In a word, good grief! Now that the 9/11 hot button has been pushed, there is a good chance that Rupert & Co. could quickly become men without a country. If warrants are issued against them in the U.S. they had better disappear. There is a vacancy at the top of the FBI's most wanted list.

You'll notice that new communications systems have their liabilities. What these guys are alleged to have done is equivalent to an illegal telephone tap. The courts will not be nice to them.

Link to recent reportage. Well, it seems things are unfolding as it should, I suppose. If the "Met" a,.k.a. Metropolitan Police (Scotland Yard) have had these cuckoos in their nest, they may very well be destroyed.

This has overtones of the problems we had with the Mounties a few years back that folded their Intelligence Branch into the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). The Mounties are not allowd to play in the international pool anymore.

It has been suggested that VIP protection and Anti-Terrorism should be taken away from the MET's responsibilities.

After the resignation of Rebecca Brooks nee Wade, she has now been arrested and released on bail. Now we have the resignation of Sir Paul Stephenson, Chief Commissioner of the MET and John Yates head of the Anti-Terrorism unit who should have investigated the NOTW previously.

Well, at least the Met is not involved in anything out of the country. Maybe it is time for the Home Office to set the works in motion for some more bureaucrabs and create a new internal security service (BCIS? HOCIS?). You are obviously expecting too much from the Peelers.

I hope this fiasco kills Faux News, or at least results in the removal of Rupert and his son from management of these so-called journalists.

Next in line - CNN and MSNBC. All of these networks are the crud stuck in my shoe.

Yes, and got a pie in the face.

    I certainly hope so.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Don't hold your breath. Who are the current Edward R. Murrows?

When will the fourth estate remember that news is more important than advertising revenue? Since the 1950s the whole fourth estate has descended into a culture of bread and circuses. Editors are afraid to run real exposés any more because they fear the publisher won't like it. The publishers are pwned by the corporate culture cartel.
