Getting arrested is no problem, I think, because you will end up in prison anyway. That's the quest objective too, so it should work fine.

For more info you could check this page: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Forsworn_Conspiracy

It also seems this quest and the following quest in the Cidhna Mine are both more bugged than usual.

If you just do the time, you will get out of prison eventually, and you are no longer attacked on sight.

Also, the Cidhna Mine Prison quest is not really needed, and it's buggy, as you will lose all quest items you have in your inventory, and you can't get them back.

So I would just get arrested, do the time or pay the bounty (if your speech is high enough, you can bribe them), and then leave this whole thing.

Quest complete after few fustrating hours and multiple tries. "No one escapes Cidhna mine" can be completed in two ways and one of the ways does not make all your quest items disappear. I'm happy I got rid of that glitched quest finally. :D

Edit: I just saw the most amazing thing in Skyrim a ghost horse and the rider was without a head :O!! I tried to chase after it but could not catch up. This happened near Dragon Bridge.

I'm currently enjoying this game but I'm fed up of repeating the first quests again and again. I've been playing this on a friend's machine while living in university, starting my own game and getting through the first few story missions, then watching him play it, then another roomate, then another...

Now I'm back home and have made a new game on my machine, gone through some quests to level up to a point where I feel safe enough to take on the creatures of the wild. This new character is a Bosmer thief/archer, it adds a challenge to dungeon diving but it's starting to slow down so I mae another new character, two-handed Nordthat now has to go through the first quests :hmph: . I think it's time for a break from Skyrim for now to focus on other things.

What's everyone else's playstyle (warior/mage/thief,bow/sword/spell etc.)? What do you guys/girls do to mess around in Skyrim?

I use heavy armour with enchantments, and a one handed sword with an enchantment, currently one that absorbs health from the opponent. I don't use a shield, instead I use a restoration spell, to recover health non-stop when fighting. I don't use a normal helmet, I use the Clavicus Vile mask, just because it looks awesome and it makes it easier to persuade people/guards. It also has a quite high armor rating.

Just going to have to ask: IMPERIAL or STORMCLOAK?

Stormcloak!

I'm Kahjiit at level 49. Almost 50. So far everything has worked out, although I'm not sure about my choice of light armor. I can easily kill anything, problem is anything can easily kill me. So I find myself going through tons of healing potions. My smithing is at 90, so once it, and enchanting gets to 100 I'll craft myself a set of enchanted (cheap) armour that each piece increases my smithing, take a potion that improves smithing, and then smith myself some real high quality armor.

To actually answer your question, :P, I've been going more on the lines of a thief. The skills I use most are one handed, Archery, conjuration being the only magic skill I really use. I use light armor (better for sneaking) With the x15 multiplier for backstab damage plus some gauntlets that do double backstab damage. I can easily one hit giants and drauger death lords when I'm sneaking. Can't use this ALL the time... but it is quite useful. :)

Just going to have to ask: IMPERIAL or STORMCLOAK?

More on the lines of who you feel is right for not only the future of Skyrim, but for the future of the empire as a whole.

The Stormcloaks to me seem like the citizens rebelling against the empire because of the drastic changes. Ulfic is a great guy on a personal level, but getting into national politics I think his head is in the wrong place. Possibly blinded by things the empire has done and letting his emotions take the best of him. The Stormcloaks are pretty racist towards elves, but don't blame them. Blame the Thalmor for ruining their image.

The Imperials are just trying to keep the empire united. They HAVE to let the Thalmor lead them due to the treaty that was signed during the great war. In all honesty they don't like the Thalmor either.

The real problem is the Thalmor. The Empire at the moment is in a state of peace. The Thalmor just getting ready for another war to finally take the empire down. If the Imperials win the civil war, the Empire would be united and possible strong enough to defeat the Thalmor. If the Stormcloaks win the Empire may be divided and weakened. By this I think is what the Thalmor want.

When I broke into their embassy during one of the main quests

there were some books in there. More or less admitting that they're using Ulfric as a way to weaken the imperials grasp in Skyrim.

I am a Level 19 Khajiit and have basically been playing as a thief. My magic is laking (I'm still on Level 10 Restoration), but things like Pickpocket are at 60 aand whatnot. I used some fur armour, but now that I am part of the Thieves Guild, I have a set of robes.

I like Riften; I specifically travelled there to fence all the stuff I stole. I generally pickpocket anyone and anything.

My character is a level 35 Nord and I'm very good at sneaking, archery and two handed weapons. Lately I have been improving my one handed weapon skills but I never use shields. Usually I go into a mission sneaking but when detected I use the wuuthrad to easily take down enemies. I'm also very good at lockpicking, but pickpocketing is not that good and I had real trouble doing some pickpocketing tasks. I have a friend that is pro at pickpocketing in skyrim and he can literally steal the clothes of guards without them even noticing XD

It is true, but it depends on what you value more.

The Stormcloaks fight for their beliefs and don't let other tell them what to do.

The Imperials sold all their beliefs and values just to save themselves for a short period of time. By doing that, they only postponed their defeat. They showed how weak they are, and being bound to this treaty with the Thalmor, they can't build up a strong enough army to withstand them, or the Thalmor will stop them. They easily conquered The Empire during the Great War. Resistance against those Thalmor will only come from rebellions like the Stormcloaks. The Empire has no Emperor, and is chained by a 'peace' treaty. If The Empire breaks up, the Thalmor will face many different enemies, instead of a single, weakened one.

Or are we getting too geeky here, discussing politics and war strategies of a fictional world from a game?

I was actually thinking that a divided continent would be worse. Think of it this way -- who do you think you can last longer against in a fight; five 50 pound kids, or one 250 pound man. I think the people of Tameriel need to be united in order to win the war. I don't neceserially think the Imperials have lost their values, just have to put them aside when dealing with the Thalmor. They do have to give up quite a bit to do it, so possibly even too much as we see with Skyrim revolting. The Imperials are trying to gain strength but in doing so they're loosing it. What is happening is exactly what the Thalmor want, a divided empire, where the people may be inclined to think government under the Thalmor may be better with what has happened to the Empire.

Just after I had completed the Dark Brotherhood quests I was picking my side in the civil war. I choose the Stormcloaks, but now after completing their quests and chasing out the Imperial Legion from Skyrim I feel I choose wrong. Ulfric is very racist and unlikable and after he came to power Skyrim seems different. Now as I think about it this was what the Thalmor wanted in the first place. Now that Skyrim is independent the Empire is even weaker not to mention that now the Empire is disconnected from High Rock. What I understood from one side quest was that the Aldemeri Dominion has Hammerfell under occupation. The Thalmor had all of this planned out, they banned Talos worship in the peace treaty to cause the civil war in Skyrim. Luckily I have an old save just before joining the stormcloaks that I can jump back to.

5 50 pound kids could attack the legs to make the enemy fall down, and then swarm all over him.

And because there are 5 of them, one can distract the enemy, so the others can attack.

By the way, why would I, as my character is a Nord, want to preserve the empire? It doesn't matter if the Empire falls, only Skyrim matters. Of course you could say the Empire defends Skyrim as well, and if they are defeated, Skyrim will be next. But if all Nords can just focus on defending Skyrim, it's not that much of a problem, because the smaller an area is, the easier it is to defend, and as the Nords are home to the cold, mountainous land, they have an advantage over the Thalmor.

I was simply trying to find a comparison. :P

Being a Nord is fine. I guess that's what transfers into the Role Playing aspect of this game. Someone else is a Dark Elf, and he doesn't want to help the Stormcloaks Since his people all live in the Slums in Windhelm.

That's true, playing as something else than a Nord makes it strange to support the Stormcloaks, unless you are a Thalmor High Elf, but I guess they wouldn't join either side.

And indeed lot's of Nords are quite racist sometimes, trying to make all Khajiit into rugs, for example.

I'm a high elf, but I was thinking of joining the Stormcloaks anyway. I have too much of an anti-authoritarian streak to join the Imperials, and I've understood I HAVE to choose a side.

Choosing between the Stormcloaks and Imperials has been one the hardest decisions I've had to make in any video game ever. Period.

It looks like I'm going to have to play both.

It's an easter egg with a chance of appearing in moonlit nights. I followed him all over Skyrim... well actually all over the circular course he does... for about half a day (real life) and nothing big happened.

After realizing exactly how much of racist idiots the Stormcloaks are, I (in addition to feeling even more embarassed about Norway's viking past) changed my mind about joining them, at least for now. Although I do agree with Wiecher on all his points, and ideologically going with them would possibly be the best choice. The problem is that I've come to realize that "freedom for Skyrim" really means freedom for the Nords, and I don't compromise when it comes to freedom. I can still NEVER join the imperials though, so I'm on the fence at the moment, holding off making a decision.

The Oculary in the Mzulft ruins is driving me crazy. :P

whats to be embarassad with the viking past at all?

anyway, I'm with the empire, wasn't much of a choice. While I see how the Stormcloaks try to manipulate with kind words and good promisses, they're nothing but racists (sort of amazing how equal their arguments and deeds are to todays racist groups)

GMT: The vikings were good traders, good builders, had a fascinating mythology and a pretty developed society - but they were also brutal pillagers. And they had the barbaric blood honour, which meant that if a man killed your father you would kill everyone in his family, and so it continued for generations.

Anyway, back to Skyrim. I can't join the imperials either, that feels all wrong. And the Stormcloaks DO fight a just cause, I mean, they should be free - everyone should be free. The problem is that it has kind of been "hijacked" by racist nationalists who see this as an opportunity to cleanse Skyrim of all "intruders". So, I support their cause (not the cleansing, but I support them being independent) but not their views or their methods.

Decided to give the ENB mod in Skyrim a try.

It looks so pretty.

Like photographs.

Too bad it gives me a headache after some time of playing. :(
