Final Boston 8-1. What a slaughter. I lost count of game misconducts.

Game 4, End of Second Period. Boston 3-0.

Looks like it is going to be Col. Boston in the Garden with a stick. Must have something to do with the home-town crowd.

For the life of me, I don't see what Luongo is still doing in the game. 11 goals against in the last 5 periods. Ach!

Third period. Now 4-0. Luongo has left.

Update: and that's the way it finished with lots of players on both sides off to the dressing room early.

The two games in Boston have been rough with lots of fighting. If that's the only way the Bean Town Bears can win a hockey game, I think the time has come to end fighting in hockey once and for all. They are not setting any kind of example for players coming up.

I thought the officiating in both games was exceptionally weak.

those Bruins shure know how to kill a penalty.

Was Aaron Rome that much a factor on the Nucks defence?

The Bruins make the Broad Street Bullies look like pussy cats. I don't enjoy that kind of hockey at any level. Too scambly, too many penalties, and too much violence.

Tsk, tsk. Home ice advantage. Canucks lead the series 3-2.

Now, if they don't get destroyed Monday night, they can bring the cup home.

To be honest, I think the blame for the violence falls on neither team, its rather just the matchup.

The Canucks? They are a shady team. They like to do the little instigating things, biting players, pulling hair, taking cheap shots, slashing, flopping, diving, etc. They get in the heads of the other team with their immaturity and get the other team off their game. Its interesting because I remember reading earlier in the year about how Kesler has really matured and become the leader, setting an example by abstaining from incidents. Yet it seems like he is the only mature guy on the roster.

The Bruins? They are a classic physical hockey team. Lots of big old school hockey players and an old school coach. They protect their goalie [and he needs it, with his style of play] and are quick to respond to any sort of instigation with force. Having watched the Bruins all year, I have seen that they are quick to get bad blood with other teams [stars, Canadians, now the Canucks] simply because of their rough nature. While they don't often start beef with other teams, the slightest instigation can blow up the team because they are such a physical aggressive squad. They are the "What are you looking at? You wanna fight?" guy at the end of the bar.

So because of this, we have a very violent finals. The Canucks continue their shenanigans and the Bruins aren't having any of it. I for one thing its great, it makes for great passionate hockey. Pretty much everyone who is following has developed hatred for either the Canucks or the Bruins, and that can often times be a bigger motivational factor to watch than rooting. Just look at the NBA...most people want the Heat to lose, not the Mavs to win.

Since hockey has overtaken our national sport and become the de facto thing for children and youth, I don't think the NHL teams of any stripe are a good example for them. Temper tantrums while wearing butcher knives on your feet and carrying a club are not a good thing. As many have noticed, permanent injuries are becoming more and more common.

I realize that, being a physical contact sport, hockey players can get annoyed with each other. But this is a matter of training and, perhaps, discipline by the league. Fighting should get a game misconduct for both players. The "enforcers" need to cool it in the dressing room a few times, and maybe they will get the message. It is also time for scouts, trainers and coaches to stop acting like lanistas.

The spectators are acting like the crowd in the Roman Coliseum, yelling for blood. I have seen parents at pee-wee games do the same. This is hardly an example of a civilized society. There is a move to ban a lot of the nonsense in Junior Hockey, and I rather hope it spreads to the NHL. These players are not gladiators anymore than American Football players. Mayhem should not be a part of any sport, not even boxing.

Lately we've seen a growth of "extreme" fighting sports, especially in Mixed Martial Arts. The word Art is getting to be a misnomer. We need to jump on this and put an end to it before killing becomes a regular part of the events with the crowd holding out their thumbs.

Have the courage of your convictions, my lad. There is no doubt that the cup will be in Vancouver. It is a question of whether it stays there. The league has now miked this box office to the max, so everyone plays golf next week.

So far in this series, it's been home town advantage. All in all, it is time for the Canucks to lose their virginity and win the cup for the first time.

I agree that it is a home town advantage for the Canucks, however, Boston has a lot of good players like Tim Thomas that could help then bring the cup home to Massachusetts. On the Canuck Side, Luongo needs to beef up his defense and its up for the Canucks offense to bring home the cup to Canada.

For an interesting tidbit, Vancouver has only held the lead in this series for 32 minutes. They barely eeked out their three wins, imo, two coming late in the third period and the other in OT. The games Boston won were complete domination over Vancouver. I understand the "a win's a win" sentiment, but by all accounts, Boston should have won by now.

This series is going to be solely decided upon by Luongo. Too bad I'm working tonight and won't be able to watch. :(

End of 2nd period: Boston 3-0.

    Luongo should be pulled now!

I don't see Vancouver getting four goals in the next 20 minutes.

It is sure now the Bruins would win the cup... If there is no Miracle on Ice

Kindly refrain from enumerating your feathered progeny until the period of incubation has elapsed.

    Does look grim, doesn't it.

Update: Boston scores on an empty net. 4-0 final.

    Gone, Canucks, gone!

With a mob that size, after all the hype, who is surprised? Boston, on the other hand, was calm and collected with only a few violent drunks.

And EB, hockey to us is like football to the Spaniards.

I must admit that both teams played amazing throughout the entire playoffs. Vancouver didn't play their best game, that's for sure. They made too many little mistakes, for example, when Luongo collided with another Vancouver player in front of the net. It allowed for a wrap-around goal.

Tim Thomas played incredible. He had a lot of great saves and deserved the Conn Smythe trophy.

As for the riots, that's ridiculous. "Blood in our streets. I saw people on the ground, bleeding." Come on. Your risking your lives because of a hockey game. wow

Congrats to the Bruins on the impressive win. As for the riots, I don't understand them at all. Vancouver lost? What are they rioting for? In America you riot when you win, but I guess in Vancouver they were having a frustration riot. Even so, the celebration in Boston was very orderly. After all the riots they've had in recent years from the Red Sox and Celtics, the Boston Police must be veterans at handling these crowds. And its always easier to deal with a happy crowd than an angry one!
