Wouldn't it be interesting if the blessing of the Olympics held true and the Vancouver Canucks won the Stanley Cup?

Montreal held the Olympics, and the next year the Canadiens finished first in the league and won the Stanley Cup.

Calgary held the Olympics, and the next year the Flames finished first in the league and won the Stanley Cup.

Vancouver held the Olympics last year, and this year the Canucks finished first in the league .....

It would be the first time in years that a Canadian team took the cup, and the first time for Vancouver, ever. Bring the tin home, guys.

Chances are that the head rolled at the wrong level as usual. Some players who didn't pull their weight should be on the block, and some higher-ups probably need to be reminded of the Peter Principle. Hopefully, this head will roll up hill.

If the reason for the sale is lack of fan support, I can think of at least three Canadian cities that would be delighted to find the funds for a franchise. Now that the Canadian dollar is at a premium, those U.S. dollar salaries don't hurt quite so much.\

Red wings sweep

Canucks up 3-1 and should finish them tonight.

Other series all tied 2-2 or 2-1. except the Pengies who are up 3-1.

Both the Canuks and the Habs faltered at the gate.

The NHL won't let the Coyotes out of Phoenix because of pure greed. The market for TV sports is just too big in that area, so some way to keep them there will be found. Hard lines on Winnipeg who have a nice, new HHL accommodating arena.

I understand youth hockey in Phoenix has jumped quite a bit since they got a team. I think that's a crucial element in building a fan base. Get 'em while they're young.

Here we have kids as young as five or six in recreational teams (no checking). Hockey in Canada is organized to a fare then well.

I think people like action sports better than baseball (a cerebral sport), and hockey is football on the rocks.

Hockey is comfotably in the #4 slot of the big 4[ NFL,MLB,NBA,NHL]

acording to TV ratings and money generation.I think college football gets better ratings then NHL games

overall.

NFL is so far out in front in terms of ratings and popularity that a NFL preseason game will

get better ratings then the world series or the NBA Championship games.

Well I didn't get quite that much information about the hockey "scene" in Phoenix but I assume it includes various leagues for various ages, whether linked to school sports or not.

This is really just epic fail on the part of the Canucks.. I'm no fan of the team, but they really ought to have swept the series. My assorted friends who are from Vancouver will never hear the end of this if the Canucks lose this series, after holding a commanding 3-0 lead.

Habs and Bruins in game 7 is a kind of hockey classic. They've been there before.
