So I have taken a few year break from SC4 and wow have I missed out on a lot of great Mods and additions! So I want to start playing again but on my MacBook Pro. I'm going to use crossover to power the game. My question is, do I need to download PC versions of Mods or Mac versions? Also, do I install Crossover first and then the game? What has been your overall impression of using crossover?

Thanks for your help! I can't wait to get started!

I don't use crossover, so I won't comment on it, although yes, you would have to instal it before the game because with out it you have nothing to run the game's installer.

You can just download anything. I'm not sure how crossover works, but Im assuming that it will set up a file system inside of itself. If you have old plugins, you can just move them over. If not, use which ever way you find easier, although if you have to extract them on your mac, then the mac versions would be easier.

    Have fun!

Ok, I will test it out and see what happens. Thanks

If anyone else has been using crossover, let me know what you think.

Ok, so far not so good. I can not even access the settings for the game because I am using the PC Steam version and when I launch the game it goes straight to a region (the default) and lags a LOT.

Try using the command switches like -d:software and all those. Here's a list of all of them: https://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3683.20 Since you use the Steam version, I'm pretty sure there's an option inside Steam to set those, in the program's properties. Also, you should be able to run the .exe windows installers with crossover, just choose custom install or whatever, choose the .exe, and make sure you install it to the correct bottle.
