Train/Road crossing cuts off traffic network

Hello all!

I'm pretty sure this has been answered before, but I just couldn't find the solution (or the question for that matter) using the search option.

Here's the thing... Whenever I make a road-train track crossing (whether a ground crossing or using train/road puzzle pieces or even overpasses) my traffic network seems to be cut at that point - all road traffic that was happily going to the neighbor city simply no longer "sees" the road network past the crossing and uses the neighbor connection on the other side of the map that doesn't have a train/road crossing...

I have only installed the latest NAM (dated 2011)

Does the problem persist after running the game for a few SimWeeks/Months? Sometimes the traffic simulator needs some time to catch up.

If you say that you have installed the latest NAM, does that mean that you have used an older NAM before, or did you play the game without NAM before? I'm asking because sometimes an outdated NAM file remains somewhere and interferes with the latest NAM.

I guess it can't hurt to post a screenshot of your problem, either. Someone might be able to deduce something from it.

This one comes up a fair bit, and it's the result of how you installed the NAM. It is covered as Item #3 on the NAM FAQ (located in the Modding-Transit Networks board) as well.

From the sounds of it, you have a Left-Hand Drive (LHD) game, in which all traffic drives on the left side of the road. The game is able to auto-flip most road paths, but any sort of rail network is a different story, and the paths have to be manually flipped with a new path file, or else all rail networks (Rail, Elevated Light Rail, Monorail) and any places where they cross other networks will not work.

The NAM includes an LHD Plugin which contains the flipped paths and some other things to allow for proper LHD functionality in the NAM. Install the NAM's LHD Plugin and things should return to normal.

    I only installed the latest version, that is - I installed the game, downloaded latest NAM, installed it (I considered that it should contain everything it needs to work). Later I realized that I didn't install official patch that came out for Rush Hour, maybe that is problem? (I have sc4 deluxe edition - not sure if that one contains the patch). Will try running it for couple of years (I read somewhere that some changes take anywhere from 6 months to 8 years to be incorporated)

    Well, first I'd check what Tarkus posted. I knew that many people don't read the (admittedly lengthy) documentation carefully enough and accidentally install a mismatching traffic plugin, but I was not aware of the fact that the problematic parts in such a situation are crossings between rail and other networks. I'll try to remember that for the future, though.
