Htacess Rewrite Suggestion

Web developers will know what I mean by .htaccess. Wanted to suggest a rewrite rule. In alot of descriptions on the STEX I see links for dependencies like this:

http://www.simtropol...ex.cfm?id=16352

As you can see the link is dead. With a simple rewrite trick in htaccess you could set the server to redirect it to:

http://www.simtropol...ls.cfm?id=16352

Which will then redirect to:

http://www.simtropol...g-bulowstrasse/

Hope to see this implemented to help out new users or those who for one reason or another, need to re-download alot of files. Thanks!

We do have them in place. The details.cfm have been in place since day 1. Try for yourself:

I think the problem is that "index.cfm" isn't being redirected, and links were occasionally posted like that (instead of with "details.cfm").

The links with "index.cfm" are still broken (they link to the STEX main page, not the actual download).

Ah.. it was working, but I see now it's not... thanks for pointing that out.

Both index.cfm and details.cfm are working again.

+1 to Yunxiang. I recently did some heavy downloading with lots of linked dependencies and I saw about three quarters of the links worked while the remaining quarter were still dead.

I did just try that link first mentioned by Xplorer and it just takes me to the STEX latest page (index.cfm). Could the same thing for details.cfm be replicated for index.cfm?

Oops, seems like Dirk and I were typing at the same time.

Yep, they were both working, but after a few additional rewrite rules that got added recently, the index.cfm ended up in the wrong order, simple enough fix. Thanks.

Thank YOU for addressing the issue so quick. I had just clicked on an index.cfm link and got redirected..for a minute I thought I imagined that the index redirect wasnt working. :P
