SimCity 4: Rush Hour (Graphics Issue)

I have installed Simcity4 on Win7, and i have very annoying graphic problem:

My system is:

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit

CPU: Intel Core i7 920

Memory Size 3072 MBytes

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480

Can anyone help me?

I have the same issue as you. I have a clean install with no mods or plugins installed at all. I updated my graphics card driver but no luck my specs core i7 8gb ram Win 7 x64 I have had no luck so far.

Put your Simcity 4 Deluxe Edition disk one into your cd-rom drive, explore and look for directx executable. Install and restart.

I have a GeForce 8400M GS, and it does the same with some drivers...The new one for me has fixed it, but I've had it before...

Try older drivers, but if that fails you'll just have to play the game in software mode...

I have some mods, but i installed the same Simcity4 with same mods on Netbook (mini210-1142CL with win7-32) and game work fine.

Put your Simcity 4 Deluxe Edition disk one into your cd-rom drive, explore and look for directx executable. Install and restart.

It won't overwrite if you install the drivers for direct x on the disk, but i did this a while ago and it ended my problems, even though i had 9

also make sure you have the latest patch from the simcity 4 site.

Mangled graphics can have several sources. The most common is not knowing how to set up your graphics card for this game. This is a legacy game and it doesn't understand most graphics cards available today. You should make sure that your GPU controls are set so that options such as anti-aliasing, etc. are set to 'application selected' or similar wording. This will automatically turn features off or on as programs load, since their expectations are in the program header. SC4 will cause all of them to be turned off.

The next source of problems is DirectX. SC4 loves and dances with DirectX 9.0c, which is on the install disks or can be had from the MS download site. It can co-exist with other versions, no problem.

Beyond that, if it is like my system, it just can't handle the card and you will have to revert to software rendering. On modern machines you will hardly notice the difference.

Simcity 4 Can't handle newer Graphic cards.. The GTX 480 is made for the newer games not old games. Use your inboard Graphics. OR buy a 5450 HD radeon.

Not necessarily, I have an ATI/AMD 760G [Radeon 3000], and the game runs fine. You simply have to make sure that all options are set to application selected. There is currently a glitch in wine that forces me to run in software mode because of an incompatibility with fglrx.

First thing would be to check if the game's graphics settings are set to "High". If you've recently updated the game, it may have reset everything to "Low".

Second, if this seems to be affecting custom content lots, check to be sure you have the required dependencies, particularly texture packs.
