Using Windows 7/Acer Laptop and for some reason playing Simcity 4 Deluxe I'm unable to rotate my buildings or Lots at all. I've tried some of the tips I've read on different sites but none are working. Am I supposed to click the mouse a certain way or is there some trick to it I haven't came across as of yet? Thanks in advance

use the home and end keys. On a laptop these may be second shift or second function keys. Playing this game with a laptop, it is probably a good idea to get a full sized keyboard to plugin in one of your ports and override the built-in finger poker.

Since I suppose this question is answered, I'd like to add a general hint: Next time you ask something it might be a good idea to mention what exactly it was that you tried before. Otherwise, people might suggest things that you already tried to no avail, and it might take lots of questions back and forth to figure out in what situation you actually are - this would be a waste of time for everyone, and you may have to wait longer until someone is able to provide you with a solution. The more (and the more precise) information you provide, the easier you make it for others to help you, and the faster you will be helped. ;)

i cant rotate anything and i tried EVERYTHING!

Does your keyboard have Home and End keys? They may be on second or third shift. {I hate laptops. Too much non-standard junk.}

Are you quite sure? What does your manual say about using the keyboard? Those are standard keys. If you are running a word processor they are essential keys.

On a Mac (I know you're on a Windows machine, but there might be an equivalent), it's function+right or left keys.

I believe the OP is on a Windows machine. I offered my suggestion based on my experience with a laptop keyboard.

Home/End works for me when rotating buildings. Can somebody please tell me if there is a way rotate zones? It often causes problem for me because the zones doesn't face the roads I want them to. Some of my residental neighbourhoods look a bit odd because I don't know how to control this.

Try holding down Ctrl, Shift, or both when zoning. This will make them align differently.

Alt, I believe, changes the orientation of the zone by 90 degrees. Holding down shift disables auto-streets, and ctrl makes the entire thing one lot.

As far as I know you can only change the orientation 90 degrees though, and it will choose which way itself. You can't rotate the zone by a full 180 degrees.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Thanks a lot. I don't need to rotate more 90 degrees so this should do the trick.
