We're trying to track down issues with the Live Chat.

For those who are unable to get into the Live Chat via the tab at the top, please post what you are seeing, any error messages, and what browser you are using.

If you have a screenshot with something, please share.

Ok, let me ask more specifically... what happens when you click the Chat tab at the top?

If you're using IE .. do you see the Friends Chat bar along the bottom?

Do you see a yellow warning icon at the bottom left of the browser?

If you do see a yellow warning icon, when you click it, does it say something about "jquery" error?

If you are on IE, would you try clicking on the "Compatibility View" icon and tell me if anything changes?

In IE 9.0.8, javascript doesn't even launch a popup.

What would web design be without it? Easy? Bahaha!

I've tested in the latest Chrome, Firefox, Safari,and Opera. The only bug I found was in the latest IE.

Yeh, same here, I can recreate with IE9 on Win7. It worked fine in my IE8...

I had an issue earlier with chat, Cheese/Kevin found something hidden on the admin panel that changed skins and it was a skin issue, you can ask him but that seems to be what the issue is.

Interesting... is everyone who is having problems launching chat using the skin called "Simtropolis 7" ? There should only be two selectable skins in the bottom left corner.

I'm not even sure what happened that you ended up with the wrong skin.

I believe it's fixed. I am able to launch chat from IE9. In fact, I'm in there now... Let me know!

Using IE 9 i can get into chat, but using IE9 64 bit or the latest Firefox it does not work. When i hover over the chat tab in FF i get a javascript void appearing in the bottom address bar.

EDIT : Working again in FF.

I'm not even sure what happened that you ended up with the wrong skin.

To be clear... the issue that larks had was that his profile was defaulting to the IPBoard theme, which isn't available to select from anywhere on the site by a regular member. His profile was showing that he was using the Simtropolis 7 theme, but he clearly wasn't. Using some admin tools I was able to change it to the proper theme and that fixed the issue. Still no clue how his account was using the IPBoard theme...

On my browser, the chat window at the bottom is not present, but the chat works(the old one). If I open my steam browser, however, it appers and there is no problems of any kind. I still don't know what it is, BTW I can get back to the chat days soon.

Could it be that you have pop-ups blocked? The chat opens in a new popup window (it always has)...

I can not get in to chat. Nor can someone I contacted. This person claims that they were in chat "earlier" but I swear I saw them in there a few minutes ago. I was in chat until my wifi disconnected me. We both get authentication failed messages. I use Chrome. This has happened to be before, in the same circumstances (disconnected from my end). I've also noticed I do not get autokicked for inactivity anymore. I tend to toss myself in bed when I go to bed irregardless of what's open on my browser, for the past two days, chat remained open for the entire time.

I think that this info may, hopefully, lead to a solution.

edit - I've tried logging in and out. I will now try a total browser restart

edit - the poster below is the "someone I contacted". I tried a browser restart and still can not get in. I am trying to get a hold of someone in chat to tell me if I am logged in, and if so, to ask to be kicked, to see if that fixes the problem.

edit - I'm in chat every day, multiple times a day, and have only had problems in the ways explained above.

edit - I've had site admins tell me they are having difficulty getting in right now as well :\

edit - I've been able to figure out my account is not logged into chat. It looks like chrome is not working with chat ATM. I will try another browser and return here to report back.

edit - Firefox, IE, and Opera do not work either. I normally use Chrome, so I dont know what versions these other browsers are, but they are as old as they are allowed to be (IE, the only updates to them are any automatic updates forced)

I'm going to "sit and wait" as the above is everything I know how to do.

i've also got the same messages as TNT. im using chrome as well [ basic configuration] i have tried logging out and a total browser reset. still getting that authentication failed message

I was having the same problem last night. I had been using Firefox 3.6.13, but switched over to the Firefox 4 Release Candidate and that seemed to allow me in, however.

ok so I noticed nobody was replying and I couldn't find a more recent one... but when I try to load the chat is says authentication Failed... not sure why :\ it's white listed in my script blockers and such... and it seems to be a problem on both Google chrome and firefox
