Time for a new NFL Thread.

would appreciate an admin closing last years.

This may be a pretty short NFL thread as the NFL and Players have not come to a CBA agreement.

the lock out date is 3-4-11.

Wonder if the lock out occurs if there will be a draft.

    The draft is going on.

Cam Newton #1 to the Panthers personaly i think they will live to regret that pick.

Cowboys take a much needed OT Tyron Smith frm USC. he will likeley start at that spot.

yikes. He was way too young.

Good to have the NFL back!

I am not optimistic about the Cowboys this year. I have little doubt that Tyron Smith will eventually be an elite tackle in this league provided he stays healthy, but right now he is going to struggle with no training camp, an inadequate right guard next to him,and a steep learning curve at age 20. That being said, Mark Columbo was rated as one of the very worst linemen last year so its not like there anywhere to go but up as far as improvements from the right tackle spot.

The defense can't be great until it produces a good free safety. Alan Ball was atrocious there last year, and right now we don't have a replacement for him. That being said, even with a new defensive scheme run under Rob Ryan, this unit will have to work to actually be worse than last years.

The Cowboys schedule is much easier than last year, so I honestly expect them to contend for the playoffs this year, and if they can make it, I feel like anything goes. It will be interesting to watch this season play out. I also think Tony Romo and the offense are going to put up insane numbers in the passing game, which will be fun to watch as well.

So happy the NFLs back. Go EAGLES!!

On paper they look great with all their probowl signings, but I have to be honest, I don't think they're getting far in the playoffs.

To many dissapointing seasons to get my hopes up.

@Sim Shady: I personally HATE the cowboys and quite frankly all of Dallas. But I have to say Romo is probably going to have a good season. Idk maybe I'm out of it but I was suprised that Barber was released.

Oh man im from Dallas

Barbers been here for 4 seasons and has yet to have a 1000yd season. I say good riddance,

average NFL life span for RB's seem to be about 3 years nowadays.

the cowboys have done nothing to add to this team, free agent wise, during the most wide open free agency period ever.

I dont hold out much hope for the denfece this year, returning 11 starters from a defence that gave up 35 points a game. they did get rid of Williams, barber and linemen Marc Colombo and Leonard Davis.

Addition by subtration only works if you al least replace the players you let go.

mabey JJones has something up his sleve but i doubt it.

It would be great if the Cowboys stay the same lol.

But this freeagency has been crazy. Leron McClain is on the Chiefs now. It seems like after on bad season teams just throw players under the bus.

And McNabb had the guts to critcize the eagles haha.

Oh an Iggles fan are you?!? Lol I hope that we can coexist on this forum. No I think that the Eagles are obviously in great shape this year because of their excellent front office. As long as Vick is healthy you guys should win the division. I'm nitpicking here, but I do think that all the publicity is overlooking the fact that the linebacker corp is mediocre at best and the offensive line just wasn't that good last year.

I am a born and raised Texan, but I feel remarkably little allegiance to the state. I find its majority political ideology to be backward and incorrect. A large segment of Cowboys fans are self-entitled snobs who demand winning when they don't deserve it more than any other franchise in the NFL...you should see the ignoramus on the Cowboy fansite boards. And yet, Im still a Texan, and Im still a Cowboys fan :P

Easy Bakes you're coming up to 8 years with Simtropolis wow!

I think the self entitlement attitude has left a lot of Cowboy fans comeing up on 20 years

    since our last SB visit.

Yea Jerry world hasn't been very successful in a while. You know I was observing that most of our current star players came from the Parcells regime; Romo, Ware, Austin, Ratliff, Newmann, Witten. 2009 draft was a COMPLETE bust. You would like to think that Jerry would notice the pattern of player personnel success when he relinquishes control of player acquisitions; aka Jimmy Johnson, aka Bill Parcells....

@SlimShady: Yea I may be an obnoxious eagles fan but I'm still keeping things in perspective. Your right the linebackers are pretty averege and without a decent O line Vick is gonna get punished. He can only run for so long. Even though Madden rates his speed at 91.

And I think we can coexist on the same forum. Even though I still don't like the cowboys. But my best friend is a cowboys fan go figure

No lie, Aaron Rodgers is the best qb in the game right now. Packers are loaded, but that's the beauty of the NFL, you never know who is going to win it all, no matter how loaded a team is on paper.

He is the best QB in the game, in fact, he's even better than Favre ever was. Favre was talented, but he was idiot.

I knew it last year that the Packers were going to win it all and said so many, many times, and yet no-one believed that. I'll say it again, the Packers will do it again this year, with a better record and stronger team. No doubt what-so-ever in my mind about that. None at all.

Hey what do the chargers look like this year? I haven't really heard anything about them in the media. I know they're still rocking with Phillip Rivers and his superb receiving corp, but what is the state of the rest of the team?
