Hi all

I use the default Maxis Map, but I need it bigger, is it possible to do so? How can I do it? I just want some 4-5 medium tiles por each direction, I'm open to receive tips or the gift itself. 9.gif

After this I plan to transfer my cities just like they are in the current map, that should be all.

Thanks!

Unless you are using one of the default regions, it would be easier to make the region folder, and the config.bmp to start with.  You would need to make a config.bmp file to make the default region larger.

In your Sim City 4 folder that is in the Documents folder, there should be a folder that contains all of the regions you are working on. in the region folder there is a file called config.bmp. Open that in paint, and have it zoom in as far as it will go, as the scale of the config file is at pixel level.

Each pixel is equivalent to a 2km by 2km tile, and color coded, with one red pixel being on small city tile, four green pixels (in a square obviously) being a medium city, and sixteen blue pixels being a large city tile. Already existing regions can only have city tiles added to the right and bottom of the map.

    Nice one

Aknowledged. What I didn't like was your last sentence. I mean I need to add tiles to the left and top! I won't modify my current region (based on the Maxisland default map) but i can get a brand new Maxisland or Timbuktu, whichever works. Being new, without cities, can I add tiles wherever I want? If not, how can I do it?

If you add to the left and top edges of the config file, the entire region will be wiped out, including the terrain. I suppose if you really wanted to (and I think this is what Tungston was describing), you could recreate the config file so that all the inner regions (those apart from the ones you add to the edges)  are the same sizes as the original, and then import the cities from a saved copy of the original into the interior tiles, leaving your outside edges plain. Hope that made sense...
