I feel real stupid but I can not get any of the down loaded building to work. I have tried three so far

1. Roller Homes

2. McDonalds (kevdan25)

3. Teepee

Roller Homes says it has no dependencies.

Mcdonalds has also has none listed

Teepee has BSC MEGA Props Jen_P Vol01that I downloaded from scdevotion

Everything is installed in the users/sc4/plugins folder

however all I get is the brown packagages wrapped in a bow. The MD sign shows up as an open grass that I can see asome sort of a building behind the trees

The thumbnails for the teepees and MD's are there.

I have looked thru the forum and everything says to make sure you have everything, and so on. I have what ever is listed, all the comments say how great the items I have down loaded are so they work, just not on my computer.

I have removed, reinstalled and every other thing I can think of.

Any suggestions.

Did you read through this thread?

"Brown paper packages tied up with string,

"These are a few of our favorite things."
Alan Jay Lerner.

I would be willing to bet you moved the SC4Lot file into your plugins but ignored the SC4Model and/or the SC4Desc files.  With a lot created by the BAT, if the download doesn't come as a consolidated .DAT file, then all of these go in.  For more information, have a go at the Omnibus.

    Put everything in the C:\Documents and Settings\(User)\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins

It appears from your post that you've created a "sc4" directory in your user directory.

Well, technically, you look cool.  Do you have the default Maxis Prop files found on the Lot Editor page?

You lost me now. I have not moved or modifiyed anything (other than what I have downloaded) so if SC4 created it is still there.

Could you tell me what and where I am looking for.

    Thanks

I believe Nonny Moose was referring to the two bldgprop files that allow the Maxis buildings to be used as props in making files. If these two files are not in the plugins folder, the brown boxes may appear if downloaded items were made using them. You can get them here if you want (Link).

In this case, however, I don't believe they're needed. I downloaded and tried the three items you mentioned in your first post, and they appeared normally with and without the two files. Have you tried other custom content that has worked? Also, are you using SC4 Rush Hour or Deluxe. Most of the items available for download required one or the other.
