Mystery Buildings

Hey everyone. I've seen tons of similar posts about this on the site and I am sorry to add another but I cannot seem to find answers to my specific questions. There are two questions I have. The first is why I am not seeing stage 8 buildings. Before you run and quote many other posts on how to get them let me say a few things first.:

1. I cant find ANY stage 8 buildings in lot editor as replacements or props.

2. I have never seen ANY stage 8 buildings in game

3. I have tons of neighbor connects, rail, roads airport every kind of cap relief and a pop of 260,000 in my main city with 7 others of various sizes feeding it.

I've tried many great suggestions with no luck. Is it possible they aren't in my game some how?

My second question is does anyone know what these buildings names are and where to download them?

The 2nd building in this picture looks somewhat similar to the chicago tribune entry BAT found on the STEX but I have no idea what it is.

I've heard these are stage 8 skyscrapers but as you can see from my first question I haven't seen these in game. Any advice? (#1: Something pharmaceuticals, #2: Lind Something)

to be fair the some of the maxis stage 8's are very difficult to grow. i havent even grown all of them in 7 years, you just have to stick at it and keep boosting demand and desireability.

in fact all the buildings in this picture are maxis...

Lets do this picture by picture:

1: Haven't a clue sorry.

2: That's a Maxis R$$/R$$$ residential building.

3: I think they're both NDEX buildings, I'll look for them now.  After scanning Goose's picture, it appears that they're both Maxis buildings

4: They're both Maxis high wealth commercial offices.

Goose:  Surely the building in the middle of the picture is downloaded?  I'm sure I've seen that on the STEX somewhere...

Got curious about these myself, so had a look in SC4Tools at the original Maxis buildings...

- your second picture is Byall Tower, a stage 7 R$$$ with a capacity of 4203 with the New York tileset.

- the one labelled "1" in red is Pedriana Pharmaceuticals, a stage 8 CO$$$ with a capacity of 7013 in the Chicago tileset.

- the last one pictured, which you have labelled "2" in red, is Lind Entertainment.  Stage 8 CO$$$, with 5796 capacity, in the New York tileset.

I got a bit curious too, and had a look through the SC4 Tool.

In your third picture, the building labeled "1" is Cameron Cameras (CO$$$ Capacity 2453 New York Tileset)

                                   The building labeled "2" is The Galvin Corp (CO$$$ Capacity 1675 New York Tileset)

The building in the center of Mightygoose's picture is Hogan Wallace and White Insurance (CO$$$ Capacity 5709 Euro Tileset)

I don't think I've ever managed to grow any Stage 8 buildings either, but my total regional population is only about 600000.

You say you have a population of 260000. How is that broken up in the wealth distribution? The percent chance of growing a building of a certain stage (Stage Limits and Thresholds) are separate for each wealth type. So If you have a very large population of R$ and only a few thousand of R$$$, you can get R$ highrises to grow, but not R$$$ highrises. Commercial and Industrial are similarly divided up into wealth types. There is a list of the stage limits [here]. (you will likely have to register at that forum to view the page)

It pretty much comes down to continuing to grow a certain wealth type population to over 100000 (to get the highest percent chance of growing stage 8s), having a large enough demand for the buildings, and getting lucky.

The rest are, of course, Maxis.

All of your largest buildings are 4x4, so if you do not use that zone size, that may be part of the reason you never see them (I never used 4x4s when I first played, so I had the same "problem"). Make sure your desirability in the areas you are trying to have them grow are ideal, and most importantly, make sure you have enough demand to support these buildings.

I have never had a problem cultivating them once I understood what the game wanted (giving the city what RCI demands), but that's just me I guess.

Thanks for the info guys! I did a super demand ordinance modd to see what would happen and though I got a bunch of stage 8 custom content I never got the maxis towers (yes I did have 4x4 and similar size lots zoned and empty) I went through all the things that could cause issues (pollution, traffic, etc.) and couldn't find any red flags. I did realize that do have some maxis stage 8 stuff in game, its just way smaller than I though stage 8 would be! If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it but i think I'll just have to keep trying. On other random issue:

In LE i found lots of stage 8 lots with no buildings in them. Just ground textures and props. Is this normal?

Not that I've tried or anything.... But I suggest re-installing your game. Back up everything first.... (Mods and stuff)
