Well I recently got sucked up by Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe, an open source recreation of the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe.

And I must say, I am more than amazed by this game.

So I wonder if anyone else is playing it?

Heck, yeah! 4.gif I used to play Transport Tycoon for DOS when it was up to date, later I played Transport Tycoon Deluxe, and so it's no wonder that OpenTTD was a great experience for me as well. The only slight problem I found is that the choice of AI's is somewhat difficult... some are extremely limited, and others (AdmiralAI!) are simply overpowering... unless you limit the amount of vehicles, trains etc. these AI's may have, you will be flooded with zillions of vehicles - up to the point where it's ridiculously out of proportion.

I love OpenTTD! 9.gif

I have to agree that the AI's create waaay to many vehicles... so I enjoy trying to keep traffic flowing...

I used to play before I discovered Simutrans. Now, I only play it occasionally against my friends.

I play it all the time, but with the slightly easier Japan Mod set and stuff like AV8 and usually no AI.

woah, is that what it looks like now? I used to play it, early days. None of the one way roads and elevated trains and new buildings. I was originally a TTD player. At the end of the day, the challenge for me always boiled down to having the best train line. choo! choo! ...and i always fall victim to the just one more town to reach(for commuter lines)... then another.. then another.. =)

...and between RHW and TTD, I think I prefer building massive interchanges on TTD. Mainly cause it was easier to make and for the instant gratification of seeing how the new interchange handles traffic as the trains roll by!

I'll have to take a look at openttd soon!

I've played this once or twice, but I'm mainly into Chris Sawyer's Locomotion. I've been playing that one for a while.

I also still play it a lot. It is a real good game. All the credits should go to the devs at the TT forums who keep this game alive.

I just started playing this game yesterday, and I really like it. It's both fun and challenging.

I've been playing OpenTTD since December. I only recently started making main lines in my rail designs.

Here's a zoomable map of the map I'm currently playing.

Could someone compare and contrast OpenTTD with Simutrans? I would like to know which one to play more. I have not played either in a long time.

    Thanks a ton!

Loads of the people in chat play it, we often get around to hosting a server or two every now and then.

I didn't even know there was multiplayer OTTD. That's good to know.

yeah every now and then I tend to spectate in multiplayer, quite nice to see how others work their way to dominate the transportation world

OTTD seems easier than Simutrans. Well, I never had problems in OTTD but couldn't start just one transport in Simutrans... That's about all I can say to compare both of them

EDIT: here's an exhaustive comparison between the two, but with a load of adds in between, looks like the author wants to earn money online with writing
