I always disliked halowe'en. It just makes little kids go wild asking for a simple candy:

-Kids TP and throw eggs to windows and random people if they didn't have candy.

-Kids use whatever (soy sauce, ketchup, etc, or their hands) to kill plants if they didn't give candy.

-Kids cut the house powerlines (AND I'VE SEEN THIS)

-Kids throw a powder that makes you itch to people who don't give candy.

-Kids empty a whole toothpaste to put it at doorbells, door handles, etc.

-Kids sometimes throw paint to houses if they don't give candy.

-Kids throw "water" and normal water to people if they don't give candy.

All this for miserable candy. It's just astonishing how the streets and houses are left at Oct. 31. Even, some teenagers just do this stuff for fun.

It could be worse, like if you live in Detroit, MI or Camden, NJ. Many a fire is started on October 30th.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever actually seen a house that has been TPed.

That sounds a little excessive. I've never seen anything done like that before, except for the occasional TP job. I don't really think too many kids carry around paint, itching powder, and tooth paste while they are trick or treating. As far as tampering with power lines, not only is that incredibly deadly, but illegal, thats not even an option for us though, I live in St. Louis and Ameren UE has thankfully buried most of the lines. Kids are stupid, don't get me wrong, but to tamper with power lines, I doubt that, how would they even get up there? This sounds like a local problem cause i've never heard of this happening anywhere else.

And for what its worth, I hate Halloween too, mainly because everyone makes a huge deal about basically nothing. It's just another day for adults to get skanky and kids to get candy.

I have never seen a halloween like you are describing.  Apparently customs vary considerably.

It was a popular prank back when I was in high school.   Haven't seen it in the last few decades.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Lesson learned from nerdthisname: Better give 'em candy! Jeez, where do you live? I have to make sure I avoid that place! lol. I have to agree with you though, I'm not much of a Halloween fan. But my 4 year old son loves it so there's no avoiding it for now. I agree with Barbarossa, the international symbool for "We're not giving candy" is turning off all the lights. People just assume you're out trick or treating too.... or at least they should.

I dislike Halloween nowadays as well, as it means I cannot let my cats outdoors for several days. For quite a few past Halloween seasons, the city has been horrified by serial incidents of roaming kids and media-desensitized teens torturing, stabbing, burning, and decapitating random housepets, particularly cats. Sick and sad.

Perhaps instead of animals, we need to start euthanising dangerous, faultily programmed teens. Yeah, cornily bad as the movie and its jingle was, I did like the villain's evil scheme in "Halloween III: Season of the Witch."

Good thing we don't have Halloween over here 45.gif (Even though some groups vainly attempted to spread it, such attempts never really worked)

What I hate most about Halloween is the fireworks. I've never seen it anywhere else that I've lived, but in Vancouver BC, I'm already hearing the fireworks being set off in the middle of the day and several days before the main event.

I've seen houses which were TP'd, but I can't say that it's been common anywhere that I've lived (US and Canada).

Ya where do you know where all this friggin vandalism happens? In CONECEPCION CHILE. Where moralty doesn't exists, respect for property is something unknown and my classmates, well, did most of that, and if someone doesn't do it, it is a *****, boring nerd and all those.

This one will be worser than other years, since I live in better neighbourhood, lower class people usually go here, and this one will be worse since the earthquake and two tornados after (one on July and other on Thursday 28) destroyed some of those houses, their parents have more chances to bring them here.

Still some issues happen on 31. Car accidents on night (which relates to big parties on night, which I don't get what really that has to do), kids with digestive illnesses, assaults to kids (yup, it happens) and many more.

And all I said is true. I had an eggy thing on my front wall on 30, which has white with yellow, but still wasn't sure what it was and to my amusment it had newspaper (now it got weathered and got erased).

I see candy papers on floor on 31, toilet paper strain on some streets, etc.

I still don't get the point of copying this "festivity" even though it has nothing to do with Chile. Why I would had dressed up as a monster and ask for candy when I can get a big bag of one for 1,50 dollars.

EDIT: It's not a trick ore treat here, it's treat or we-f***-your-house-and-leave-a-huge-crap.
