Highway Intersections???

I haven't played SimCity in AGES. I've been feeling nostalgic so I grabbed SC4 off the bargain rack yesterday and jumped right in.  I've been trying to create a highway intersection but it just ain't happenin'. I read a little bit on the 'net and have dezoned and cleared out lots of room around the intersection. The two stretches of highway are both straight and there are more than 8 squares extending either direction. If I try to draw one over the other, it says it can't create the intersection. I am also unable to drop a clover leaf. Any suggestions? You would think it would be as easy as the surface roads but noooooo.

Thanks,

Joe

p.s. Sorry if this has been asked a million times before. I wasn't able to get the search to work very well.

Welcome to Simtropolis, joefusco! One thing I've noticed when placing cloverleafs is that you can't put them over top of existing highway; the two networks have to be far out enough that you can put the cloverleaf and then manually connect them in. If they overlap at all, it doesn't work.

Secondly, you can't do elevated highway x ground highway (only available in Rush Hour expansion pack) cloverleaf in the original game. Some custom content from this website will let you do that, though.

Also it helps if you have somewhat level ground.

    Hope that solves your problem!

Thanks for the tips but no joy. I've attached a screen shot of the area I'm trying to effect. I can't drag one highway over another and, as you can see, I can't drop a cloverleaf. I even tried leveling the area but no dice. I wouldn't think it would be this hard.

    Thanks,

    Joe

You may have something left over from a lot you bulldozed, try dezoning the area, if it cost anything, that would be the problem.

or alter the terrain, a lil mountain or sink, and relevel it, to make 100% sure there're no invisible leftovers from previous lots (the game tends to have them every now and then)

Hmmm...something looks fishy in that picture. There seem to be a lot of missing lots and abruptly ending roads. If there was a disaster in the area recently, there's probably a 'ghost lot' sitting around as everyone else described. My sure-fire solution is: If you find it (hover over the area with the bulldozer until it hi-lights something and gives you a bulldoze cost), then 1) dezone the area, 2) place a park or something that will completely cover the 'ghost lot', and 3) bulldoze that object you placed. Then it should be gone (no terraforming needed.)

you could try dragging the highways over one another... i'm pretty sure that it will ask if you would like to place the cloverleaf. Then again i havent used a maxis highway in AGES with the release of the Rural highway Mod like 2 years ago :-P
