Diagonal Avenues

What to do if you really need a diagonal avenue to connect to the next city tile?

For some reason, I thought one could lay diagonal avenues across boundaries (like roads and rail), but it's not possible. What do you do if you really need a diagonal avenue to extend beyond the origin city?

"Whether it be the sweeping eagle in his flight, or the open apple-blossom, the toiling work-horse, the blithe swan, the branching oak, the winding stream at its base, the drifting clouds, over all the coursing sun, form ever follows function, and this is the law."

—Louis H. Sullivan, "The tall office building artistically considered." Lippincott's Magazine, March 1896.

I don't think you can do anything. Diagonal Avenues don't connect to the next city tile. Your just going to have to use a regular road.

Or you could first make a normal straight connection with an avenue, and then bulldoze it, except the two pieces 1 tile from the border, and then connect a diagonal avenue with it.

Might be worth a sandbox experiment.  Anyone tried it?

Yeah, I've done that before. It looks ugly, but if that's the only solution then, oh well.

You might check out this tutorial (Link). It shows some "tricks" that can be done with NAM pieces to make the connection. Also, the rest of the thread shows how to make diagonal connections with other transit types. Hope it helps.
