And I'm back for another update. Mostly the completion of the Downtown Highway and the expansion of Downtown.

No need for me to say any more, so I'll just give you the pics right away 4.gif

    cxl_screenshot_gapado%20city_80.jpg

Overview of the Downtown Highway and Downtown

Downtown has grew quite a bit, to the east and over the highway.

Here's two pics taken from roughly the same place, before and after the expansion:

    Before

    cxl_screenshot_gapado%20city_78.jpg

    After

And some pics taken closer to Downtown:

    cxl_screenshot_gapado%20city_82.jpg

From the souteast. The Jiha highway exit and the southern entrance to the Downtown Tunnel.

    cxl_screenshot_gapado%20city_83.jpg

From the north. The Downtown highway exit and the northern entrance to th Downtown Tunnel. Right above the entrance is the new GCBC (Garnica City's Broadcasting Center) Home of the four biggest radio and tv networks in Wadur.

A picture from Sergel street in the newest part of Downtown.

The Clarkson Tower, wich was in the east end of Downtown, is now in the middle.

North of Downtown in Phanico, there's several of new housing prohects growing up. This is one of the biggest:

And to finish up a satelite picture of the curent city:

    Beautiful!

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Thank you! Would mean alot! 9.gif

Yes the trixies are up! Don't forget to nominate! And maybe it's a bit greedy but I don't mid you nominating me 2.gif

    @likeseattle: Thanks!

@Jesse Swiss: Thank you, yes you are right. It kinda hides the highway.

I've started planning out a university in Garnica and I can't decide where to put it, maybe you can help me?

I have tree suitable locations, and here's a map of them:

    University%20location.jpg

The Blue: The first location is in the north of the city. It's in the lower quality neighborhoods of northern Phanico.

At this location the design would be kinda dens without any big open areas like parks and plazas.

The Red:  Closer to Downtown, in a office area, close to the beach and the beachside parks. This design would be more modern and open.Mixed density with lots of open areas, like parks and plazas.

The Green: Further away from Downtown, located on Alderney Island, this would be a smaller low dens univerity. With small buildings and open areas between.

Tell me what you think would be the best/nicest/coolest location and I'll start building right away! 4.gif

I would personnaly put it in the red out of the 3, close to downtown, many large roads near it and is close to the ocean 3.gif

I also prefer the university to be located in the red area near downtown and the beach. It would be easily accessible from other areas of the city by bus and metro.

What is opposite the green on the other side of the water? Is that industrial? If not, that could make a very upper class poshy, wiffy, waffy kind of campus.

Overall, for your average Uni, Red is best :-p

Put the university in the red area. That gives you plenty of land to set it up and will let you put it close to the heart of the city. IMO, the green zone is the worst location; who would want to go to a university that's completely isolated from everything else?

    Heyy guys!

First thanks for the response on the location of the university! 9.gif

But now som sad news. For some reason I can't open Garnica City, the game goes CTD as soon as I try to load the city. All of my other cities work just fine, I have no idea what to do about this. Does anyone of you know this or have experienced it? Is there anything I can do? And if it is, what? I don't wan't to loose this city!

But during the time I try to desperatly to fix this I'll put this CJ on pause.

    Sorry guys! 15.gif

Did you use a mod building in your city and then delete the mod from your Paks folder by accident? That can cause cities to crash.

Sad about your spectacular city getting lost. But I'd like to know what cheat mods you've been using to make his city so good.

@Damastius: Yes I saw your new CJ Trivordam with the lowered expressway. It looks really good with the small roads at the side making it look like walls. Even though I kinda understand how you did it I don't get it to work, so a small tutorial on that wouldn't hurt anyone

And yes! You should do waaaaay more planning than it seems like. Like you saw I did a basic plan, but that took over an hour working out how all the crossroads would work out. And I had to make some more changes in the game to make everything perfect.

Is it that Damastuis and Jesse Swiss are my only readers or are you just shy? 'Couse I want to know what everyone thinks so please give me more feedback and comments. (Jesse Swiss and Damastius: I'm very happy for your thoughts)

And now a small... well not maybe a teaser, but a picture of a piece of the Downtown Expressway.

It's the North Downtown exit just before the entrance to the Downtown Tunnel:

    cxl_screenshot_gapado%20city_76.jpg

Work is continuing quiclky with the rest of the expressway, and the South exit is planned to open for traffic later tomorrow or wednesday. The construction of the east expansion of Downtown is also moving quiclky and I think I'll put it together with the next update.

Then there will be less text and more pics I promise

    quote>

Hey I was wondering how you were able to get thisto work... i have tried similar things but it always wants to put traffic lights at intersection like these... how did u do it?

    Thanks

Do not use the Expressway road, use the expressway bridge at ground level, and also simple road bridges. It'll remove the traffic lights 4.gif

Use the bridges to make large roads in your city, expressway 4 lane one way or 5 lane one way, or a custom 2x2 highway/ road
