Garnica City

WOHOO!!
I'm finally back! It's been almost two months since I ended my old CJ Marinora City. Since then I've been busy in school, personal stuff and beta testing CXL 2011. Since I got such a huge response on my old CJ of course I want to continue! But new times are coming, and so does CXL 2011. This forces me to start over with a new city, which I would like to be as good as or hopefully better than Marinora City.
You should expect mostly the same things with loads of maps, city plans and pictures.

 

I want it to be a modern and well developed city, and I'm aiming for a mix of American and European architecture, with both grid roads, big open parks and long avenues. Of course I will use all the new features in CXL 2011 like a Chinatown a metro system etc. etc.
Also expect lots of landmarks and blueprint throughout the city.

Ok let's talk about the actual city!
This new city is called Garnica City. I'm using the "Coastal Plain" -map (I might me wrong, I'll check later)
I'm using expert mode and some small cheats and mods. This is because I enjoy the actual building and not so much taking care of my creations.
Like I did with Marinora I will start backwards with Downtown and work my way out into the suburbs. This is a fast but messy technique so don't look to much at the lay outs in the first posts since the lay out might change very much very fast.

I've just started planning the different areas and I'm working on a map that I'll put up tomorrow. But tonight I'll just tease you with this city logo:

Ok, here's a plan over the future of Garnica City. This is just a loose sketch and I can't promise the final resulst will look anything like this. But I'm going to try to follow it as much as I can.

Downtown will be made up with mostly high denseny offices and some mayor corperation HQ's. Some Elite and Executive residential will also be built in the southern Downtown, around the downtown park called Liberty Park.

Liberty Park will be a big open park in the middle of the city. Here there will be lots of leisure activities and other services. In the east part City Hall will be placed along side with other city services.

Lower West Side is a residential zone for mid density elites and executives. This will be a green and modern part of the city with open spaces for leisure and city services.

Garnica Beach will be home of most of the tourist places. Big hotels and big leisure activities mixed with both low and mid density elites and executives.

Phanico located north of Downtown will consist of mid and high denisty skilled and unskilled workers.

Chinatown northeast of Downtown will be a area full of asian culture and cousine.

I'm sorry for all the text now in the beginning but as soon as I get some construction going I'll give you more pics!

OK back for another post!

Just one thing first... When I started this city I choose German Roads, but today when I opened my city the roads had by them self changed into American Roads. All the roads I had allready put down was still German but the new where American. Does anyone know what might be the problem or has this happened to someone alse?

There's not a huge different between the different roadstyles so I don't think you'll notive that much, but I do like the german roads better

Like I showed in my first plan I was going to build a Chinatown east of Downtown. Well I kept my promise and here are som pics of it. It's not all ldone yet so thid is just a part of it.

Another thing is that Liberty Park with City Hall is all done with the January Memorial in the middle and the National Library in the bottom.

Under Downtown there's a highway tunnel with entrances west and east of Downtown.

West entrance with the West Phanico exit.

Very well, luddmamm! The downtown looks beaufitul! Strange bugs with roads, but the game is full of it Most of it I want to see your transport networks - subway, buses. But I thing that you will show them after the city is almost finished,

Here's a traffic overview. The reason why everything is so green is becouse I usa a mod that makes the citizens use the public transport more. And yes I'll give you a update on that later, when I have something to talk about There's only four bus lines and one metro line at the moment

The screenshots on 2011 definitely aren't as good as 09 and aren't as good as the picture when playing. For some reason, the quality lacks in the screenshots, but not in-game.

Yay! Now I'm free from school for a week so there will be alot of updates this week.

The latest new is that the population grew past the half million mark. Currently the number's on 540 000 citizens.

On the building side there's not so many big news. The coty is growing and I've started on some suburbs, but nothing I'll show you today.

So I'll just give you some "standard" pics and in the end some stats on the public transport system.
