I recreated the first fictional sign I ever made, about a year ago:

    capitaldistrictsign3v10.jpg

    Ewwww!And why?

1)I was using times new roman, which looks bad on a sign

2)The black doesn't contrast with the blue

    3)The blue is too bright

    4)the arrows look bad

Here is the V2 of it:

                                                     exitsign7.jpg

    capitaldistrictsign3.jpg

The colors constrast on this one, the arrows look good, and I am using transport font, which is normally used in UK.

Renderings. You can also read the V2 better in-game(It was actually a ground sign-using the gantry to show)

    signcomparisions.jpg

@haydon1996: I suggest you blend in that routeshield, other than that, looks good.

@t.nowacki : wow! These signs look quite good! Keep 'em coming! Also, welcome to Simtropolis!

@NTM: here is my version of your signs, your style mixed with some other styles (mostly dutch, but also the Scandinavian way of indirect route numbering) 9.gif

^ I didn't know it was called the Scandinavian way of indirect route numbering. I like that kind of indirect route numbering, though, so I guess it's a good thing. 2.gif

It's not the official name, but that's how I call it, since I've seen this is Denmark, Sweden and Norway (which is most of Scandinavia). I don't know if this is also the style in Finland. I also like this style...

In the Netherlands we don't have that fancy indirect route numbering style; we just put them in between "( )"s (don't know how these characters are called in english) , like: (A 2)...

EDIT: I believe I haven't posted this set before; A US-European signage mashup that I call EuroUS Style:

A EuroUS syled sign set 9.gif

I had a dream last night that you would post it sometime(What a coincidence)

About your reacreations, there spelling mistakes(Maybe you rushed them too 9.gif)

    Captial-Capital

Oh and four other things that are obsolute about that sign:

1)The right exit doesnot lead to 322.

2)The "7" symbol is supposed to go over the seaport, mulch ave, etc. Basiclly the sign is in a express-collector system, and the one pointing to Loop 20 points to the inner lanes of that highway(i think express)

3)Above or below the "Loop 20" sign, should be "Inner", or "Inner lanes", since it is a loop and has no defined direction.

4)Mulch Ave doesn't lead to a seaport, but does lead to the Mall and industrial, so feel free to cross it out(Forgot to do it with my V.1.2)

The only problem I havfe with those signs is that MD 99 does not go north-south but east-west so it would be better to put "TO MD 99". Also I-70 doesn't make it to Downtown Baltimore so you should also put (I-95) there as well. Otherwise not too shabby for signs less than 10 miles from me.

I've been trying to improve SamPkillER's sign:

    spksigns01a.png

Also, I've improved my EuroUS signage set (thanks for the feedback of the previous set, kj3400. It's actually about half a year old):

    eurous01.png

    What have I changed?

    - I've changed the colour scheme a bit.

    - Arrows are all pointing up, like in Germany and recently in the Netherlands too.

    - Added a fork sign, announcing that there are multiple connections coming up.

    - Indirect route numbering is placed in small shields. I-95 and MD-99 are signed indirectly. (Whoops! I see I forgot to change one!)

    Best,

    Maarten

    @SamPkillER

You can download it off SC4D (I think, I don't remember). Anyways, here's my final model before export. Now accepting comments. This is for the Stockton Pack

In case you're curious, here's the original sign.

It's Ellicott City as opposed to Ellicot City. I like those signs better.

    Key combination is U + 005C.

Or fire up Character Map and look for Reverse Solidus backslash ( \ ) in the Roadgeek Icons character set.

Or... just, y'know, hit the \ key 3.gif

Also, ntm, I believe your avatar should say 404 not found, not 406 not found 2.gif

I've been lurking at this thread for quite a long time now. I'd better get out of the closet and admit myself to be a roadgeek as well. A lot of great signs in here! It's actually funny to see the improvement from the early pages of this thread.

Anyway, these are two experimental signs from me, to be seen along the A-1 in my CJ. They are heavily based on actual Norwegian signage.

Pre-sign of Aaden Kreuz, the A-1 and A-11 interchange:

    K11_Aaden.jpg

Pre-sign to Kurtzfeld Ausfahrt (Exit). The sign should actually say "Kurtzfeld Süd", but as it is an experimental sign, I didn't bother at this time. The main goal was to scale the "Exit" symbol correctly..

    E13_Kurtzfeld.jpg

Keep up the good work, everyone!

I made these signs for the 12A highway, which starts at Chaison Valley and winds north toward Madison Heights. There is no numbering system on this highway. All signs are going to be partial overhangs or ground signs because 12A is a RHW-2 highway
    12asigns.png
(The last sign isn't on the highway but on a side street right off it.)

    More signs...

Comparing upward and downward arrow setups

    exits1thru9_uparrowexample01.png

    Miscellenous signs

    exits31thru20_1.png

    Distance and status signs

    r24sandrunexits.png

Playing more with upward arrows (with the downward ones as advance notice, disregard the THRU tabs, that was an experiment)

    interchange25_01.png

Last batch (Exit numbers have not all been completely assigned, hence plain EXIT tabs)

Well, would y'all look at this . . . . the first signs of the Buffalo, NY Sign Pack #1:

    22511bufpak1t21ablesign.png

A couple of notes about this pack: There will be 13 signs from Interstate 90 eastbound approaching the city of Buffalo, NY.

This sign pack will be available in TWO versions: one in the current FHWA "Highway Gothic" font and one in the new "Clearview" font, so that you may choose which font you'd like to use!
