I thought I'd show you guys a couple of things. A while back when I was putting textures on the original pizza joints, I was told that the Howies looked wrong. Upon inspection, I couldn't have agreed more and here's why----

I'm using this picture I found as a base model----

    /idealbb/files/HowiesReallife.jpg

Now here's a front and side view of what I've accomplished thus far----

    /idealbb/files/Howies21.jpghttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/Howies21.jpg>

There are some differences overall such as the sign, windows and such but I feel that this is a much closer representation to the real thing than my first attempt. I've let my imagination run a little bit on the model to make it more eye appealing, and once textured I think it will look pretty good. Oh, and It will work for the Cottage Inn too as they have a blue and ornage tile scheme on some of their buildings. Only a few subtle changes will have to be made for it. At this point, I'm shooting for a Wednesday/Thursday release for the 2.

I thought the fist seemed small but it is 24 feet in real life and I actually have it bigger then that in game, its probly closer to 30. Can't explain it though.

Tomorrow or rather later today to you day people I plan on taking my digital camera to the Chicken Shack a mile from my house and I will get working on it.

I am going to the ballgame next Tuesday so will take more detailed shots there for my work on the State Theater.

Thanks for the compliment. I currently live in Van Buren Township although I have a Belleville mailing address. I grew up in Canton so I've resided in a 10 mile area my whole life.

Small update, not going to post any pictures until I've got it finished but I'm halfway through texturing the Howies. I'm not sure if the textures I've got on it now are going to work. I've got a white brick texture for the wall and a white tile texture for the tile border that goes around the building but right now its a little hard to distinguish between the two. I'm hoping it will look better once it's finished but if it blends together too much I may have to texture the walls with a darker shade of brick. We'll see...

Howies is looking good BD!  From looking at the picutre, it looks like white tile and not brick on the building, so they're squares, and not rectangles.  Just a minor detail and it will look good either way.  Keep up the good work!

Farminsim, I can't wait to see more of the state theater!  I think theaters are another thing that more are needed in the game and we know Detroit definitely has enough great ones to model.

Wow to everybody working on projects, Baldy, FarminSim, Budweiserdude23, Wolverine, everything looks awesome. My only question is for Baldy... Is that picture of the Madden at full height or is there still more to be done? Either way it looks great. I think I might start on the Schuler building again. And as always, looking forward to more updates.

I am very impressed with everyone's work so far.  Keep up on that Hungry Howies Bud.  I would also like to thank everyone for their comments.  We like to hear your comments and ideas to help this project grow.  Don't be shy, and everyone is welcome to help out.

Well, here is some progress I've made.  The tower is pretty much done.  All that stuff near the base will be hidden by other walls and the roof.  The box office and visiting team/utility entrance area at the bottom of the photo is also completed.  I still need to add the stairways going up to it on the left, which is why it is missing the roof deck.  Also, I have decided to do ALL texturing when I'm done with the entire model.  instead of making new shapes for new wall sections, I've just been making copies of splines and resizing them to cut back on time, and having textures on them would be crazy.  Well enough talk, here is a photo

    /idealbb/files/ffwt.jpg

I expect the completion date for this stadium to be early September if all works out.

Man that's looking good wolverine. I'm impressed 44.gif

I too would like to thank everyone for the praise and thank yous we've been receiving. Makes all the work worth it.

Update time, this beauty is finished. I improvised a fair amount on it but it came out pretty nice. I think you'll agree that it needed a lightish brown brick texture, otherwise the white tiling would have been too hard to see. As always, here are the pics---

    Front View Day and Night---

    /idealbb/files/Howies3.jpg

    /idealbb/files/Howies22.jpg

    Side view day and night---

    /idealbb/files/Howies31.jpg

    /idealbb/files/Howies4.jpg

I think it really needed that light brown brick texture to show the tiling. I worked a little too hard on it for it not to show. Anyways, there you have it...

A side note here--- We should all go through this thread soon and clean it up some. It's starting to get fairly cluttered with pictures and such that aren't relevent or soon won't be. Maybe at the end of this month we can clean it up. Your thoughts?

Budweiserdude, that Howies looks great.  Where did you get your textures from? (besides the sign and tiles).

The Chicken Shack is lookin' good Farminsim. Looking forward to updates from Wolverine n everyone else. I don't know when I am going to get to work on the Schuler building seeing as my day consists of waking at 8 to go run my ass of, come back eat, shower, sleep, wake up and watch the olympics and then whatever else I have to do. I'll try to work on it tomorrow but I can't guarantee it.

You guys are really chugging along now!  Ford Field looks awesome, the architecture kinda reminds me of the old Chicago School warehouses and factories. Will it supply CO jobs for all that office space?

Hey farminsim, I've passed that Chicken Shack numerous times. Man those broasted potatoes rock...I usually go to the one in Westland as it is fairly close to me.

As far as the textures are concerned, I've started to amass them from various resources. If I see something I like, I'll make a bitmap out of it. There are a few sites that I've used quite a bit though---

www.grsites.com/textures/  This site is great. The textures are catergorized by color, shape, type, etc.
    www.texturemaker.com
www.acmebrick.com/cgi-bin/arch.pl A pretty good resource for brick textures.

When all else fails I tend to search google and yahoo both in their web directories and their image files. Sometimes you can find a good texture just by chance. If you'd like any just let me know and I'll post them for you.

No need to show night pictures as you can get the idea from the Howies. I've begun to render them so if all goes well they will be on the stex tomorrow.

Spidey,  150 west jefferson is not at full height yet.  There are 2 slightly larger floors (I might make them the same height for simplicity), 1 is the penthouse conference room, and the top is a mechanical floor.  Being that these are just squares with some windows or vents, it shouldn't be too bad.  On top of that is the angled roof which also shouldn't be too bad.  According to my calulations, the building main walls of the building stop at 377 feet, then it's 409 feet to the top of the mechanical floor, with the overall height of the building being 450 feet (known).  So you can see, much height will still be added.

I have thought about adding windows to the lower portion of the building to have just a stand alone growable building (3x3).  Then I will continue on to the landmark lot which contains the 2 elevated plazas.  This way, I can get building released earlier (still a long time from now, as I am trying to get back to normal life and the wife has many tasks for me that come ahead of finishing this).  I'm not really looking forward to lighting this bad boy up, so I might require some help from you now experienced batters...

Budweiserdude, your buildings are coming along great, keep up the progress.

Farminsim, good job!  One question, why are you releasing them to the LOT exchange?  Being that you created the models, they should be on the BAT exchange.

Wolverine, Ford Field keeps getting better and better!  I give you credit for taking on such a larger project and sticking to it!

JonDecker, any progress updates with comerica?  I can't wait to see a rendered version or posibly an in game shot (hint, hint)

Ert, Just got back from TC.  It's a beautiful area and I'm sure you'll have a great time.  Enjoy your vacation!
