Holy crap that site is gonna be nice, good work wolverine. I haven't jumped too deep into my project yet, I've been busy job hunting (oh what fun that is). If I get a chance I'll get started this weekend or perhaps the beginning of next week. Have fun this weekend wolverine, after the week you had you deserve it.

Hey hows it goin Farminsim..nice to see you back...a few things have happened in the past week or so if you haven't noticed...BTW, PM wolverine for a new avatar if you like...our avatars are based on Michigan roads...

Boy what a great day if you're a Detroit sports fan, The Wings, Pistons, and Tigers all won and the Lions seem to be having themselves a heck of a draft. Man the Lions could have one heckuva receiving corps with Charles Rogers, Roy Williams, and Hakim. I think there might finally be light at the end of the tunnel for the Lions...

I've tried exporting the busstop that I made but it looks funny in the lot editor, it dosn't look like it does in the gmax or the previewer. I'm really dissapointed about that.
I'm also frustrated at the texturing, it dosnt really look good in gmax, and I don't know if it would even transfer over to SC4 since the stones and mortar are so close in color.

I've never been to Michigan (not even Ohio!) but I have to say this is a pretty cool thread (and project) going on here.  I like the Uniroyal tire (I used to buzz it alot in Flight Simulator!), and I believe somewhere along the line I requested the Renaissance Center.

Oh and good logic for the Barry Sanders naming.  I agree wholeheartedly.  Along those lines, I should call my Buffalo Project the Rob Johnson Project or Mike Peca Project. 21.gif

Sargeantcm, we envy your talent.  Remember that when you aren't working on Buffalo, you are welcome here.  We got plenty of triangle lots!!  I am following your NHL arena, and it is coming along beautifully.

    SATURDAY IN THE PARK
Well, I was away from my work.  I'm glad to see some people still working on stuff.  Tomoorrow I will be working on the programming for the page.  We also need to disucss what projects we think should be done first.  Some sort of a priority list.

Anyway, here are a few fun pics from my day today.  Some of the buildings you see are on our list.

Some identifiable Barry Sanders project buildings^
Hopefully someone is artistic enough to do Comerica.

Waited forever in line to get autographs at Draft Day.
    line3.jpg border=0

And I guess it's about time I introduce myself.  I will remove this image if I see any re-editing on it!
    roary5.jpg border=0

If any of you throughout the ENTIRE ST community think you can BAT any of the buildings in the pictures above, let us know and we will get you more pictures.  This thread is not limited to Detroit/Michigan poeple. ANYONE CAN JOIN  Make Barry Sanders happy...better yet, make Roary the Lion in the picture above happy and join!

The requested I-696 avatar is below.  The M-10 requested avatar, i'm working on it.

Man, looks like you had a good day and saw a good game with the walk off home run and all...don't really have much else right now...man I'll say one thing working with the BAT can drive you kinda nuts...I've given up for now, maybe I'll play with it on Monday some more, I've got the beginnings of a shop/restaurant of sorts...

The game ruled thanks to Rondell White!!!
I felt funny watching the game wearing a Lions Jersey, but when the Draft Day party ended, the ballpark began to fill up with honolulu blue.

Just give the BAT some time.  When taking some breaks from the website, I might mess around with creating the Broderick.  SimCity needs more of those slender high rises.  Besides some of the details it has, I think I can find some fancy texture to cover that.  But the rest is pretty basic.  It is a very tall box.

Once again... I've missed so much!  First off I'm amazed by the website Wolverine.  That looks incredible!  Is there really going to be a newletter?  Did I miss that somewhere?  I haven't actually gone to the site yet (next on my list) but it looks great.  I would bow to you, but it's against my religion!21.gif

As for the questions about the depressed freeway:

Alkaola - Baldy was exactly right.  The highway over the rail is just an short elevated highway (3-5 tiles worth) with avenue transitions at each end.
Wolverine - The trick to getting rid of the bumps on the overpasses is lowering land where the overpass will go.  You have the two tiles for the highway itself, then you need to play with two more tiles on each side where the road bed and over pass will fall.  Different overpasses have different depths, so it's not an exact science, but mostly trial and error (thank God for money cheats!)  I do know that a plain road overpass needs the lowest depth, then a road with exits, and finally an avenue with exits.  The exit ramp areas also need to be lowered slightly when you're using them.

I think I'm going to go find the BAT so I can bury the experts with questions on how to use it.  But first I have to go check out the shrine that is the Barry Sanders Project official website.  (Oops... more sacrelige... sorry)

Thanks for the compliments - If I do run out of Buffalo work (which seems unlikely as I've got alot on my plate as well as requests from other Upstate cities), I'd be more than happy to tackle something or at least provide input.

And what was I thinking Rob Johnson Project??  49.gif At least you guys got something (alot actually) out of Barry!!  We got jack s**t out of Rob, that loser!!!

    YES!!! We need Michigan Stadium

I agree that the Ren Cen needs to be build and Comerica Tower would be nice as well.
But I also think Ford Field needs to be built.

You know I forgot that the Lions signed Tai Streets too, man they could have one of the most exciting receiving corps in all of the NFL only one year removed from having one of the worst. In addition with the other free agent signings, this team (and please don't laugh) just might compete for a spot in the Super Bowl 2 years from now. If Carolina can do it why can't we....I also believe Millen finally got his head out of his ass this off season. Man they're so much better (on paper at least). What a great time to be a Detroit sports fan, with the Wings and Pistons already championship caliber, the Tigers revival (look if they win 70 games thats a huge improvement and they're already 11-8  as of today), and the Lions strives to make themselves a playoff caliber team, boy its gonna be fun for the next couple of years.

Hey Darko, I don't think you have to get a new avatar if you don't like. I think its just a way of promoting unity in this group and showing others who you are and where your from. That's all...if you like your avatar the way it is then don't change it...but we might razz you about it from time to time in good humor.

To Nos, why did you repost wolverines pics? We know they're there, that just eats up space and makes download times slower... if a pic has been posted already why repost it? If you have a different pic of the same building thats cool, it may serve as an aid but to repost like that just serves no purpose...you could have said that you liked the pics on page 2 of this thread that wolverine posted and re-iterated that you would like to see them... that's all that was needed...anyways they will be modeled at some point...

Hey wolverine your kinda furry with a big head...oops sorry thats the mascot....J/k with ya, I had too, it was too easy not to, I'd post a pic of myself but needless to say I hate pictures, if I find a good one I may post it...don't take my joke seriously BTW. By posting your pic it gives us an idea of who we are chatting with...inevitably I  will post a pic of myself at some point as well...later all.

I've spent some more time working on the website.  There are a few coding errors I am having Canaca-cam work out.  So I hope to have a homepage that doesn't do anything up later.  But once you get a generic page done, you can just copy and past content onto it.  So we will be seeing a lot of progress soon.

LOL, Budweiserdude, I think you got me confused.  I am the big furry guy.  The other is just some random kid who is a bit too old to get his picture with the mascot.
The whole thing is pretty funny actually.  I used to work at the Lions training camps when they were at SVSU and I used to be nervous when the mascot was near.  I don't why, probably because they get to excited and start running around and hugging people when they least expect it.  Later it became a public security issue and for Roary's safety of not getting his tail ripped off, they only do that stuff when people approach them. However the tiger at Comerica Park seemed to be a bit out of control.  What would you do if this frantic Tiger came up to you?
    /idealbb/files/frantic.jpg

Anyway, back on topic.  No one has to change their avatars if they don't want to.  Also, what are your opinions that should come later?  We need to look at similarities in buildings that exist and real life and ones in the game.  Those can be done later.  With landmarks or commerical buildings, we should do the most defining first.  I think we should hold on the RenCen until we find someone with some real good talent.  Just look at Rubik and his World Trade Center.  It has taken him months and he has faced many obstacles with shadowing and texturing.  With the other builidings, I don't think it should be too much of a problem.

Finally someone requested the I-69 avatar, I figured someone would have requested it by now for obvious reasons...lol...

Paws looks like he just dropped his beer or something...and he not wearing any pants...thats kinda scary...from the pic it almost looks like he's got an orange..well you get the point.

BTW wolverine, what do you mean when you asked Also what are your opinions that should come later? I'm a little confused by the question. Are you asking what should be modeled first/ priority?

EDIT---Wolverine the website looks like it is prgressing nicely, very nice work. Nice to see that your project is also coming along nicely Farminsim. Nice job and 1.gif1.gif1.gif for both of you.

Hmm, I probably deleted part of my sentence.  We just need to form priority on some our projects.
Farminsim, that is a kick ass wall you got there.  Glad to see some pictures of progress here.

I will have the I-69 sign up

    EDIT:  Weeeeeeeeee!  Road signs!
The I-69 one is green because it has edges on the shield that were slightly green colored when I found it.  So I made the whole box that color.  The sign is special.

Hey Farminsim, if you have any more photos of your progress, can you send them to me.  If you have any photos of the old tower, that would be fine too.  I need them for an intro.

Also, Canaca-com tweaked our ftp program so that when the stuff is uploaded, it won't go from htm to html.  Instead there is now some sort of program they added to fix that.  So our problem is resolved and I will continue to work on the site!

That's good news on the website...your hard work is appreciated...for that you get51.gif24.gif51.gif24.gif

BTW...I saw on the page you had me listed as budweiserdude32, its budweiserdude23, I figure its only a typo, no big deal, just thought I'd point that out...23 is my lucky number and thats why its included in my name....

One more thing wolverine, I agree that we should have a list of priorities, the only thing is that unexperienced Batters will want/need to model easier square type buildings first. I propose a 2 part list with easy  buildings listed separately from a prioirity list...that way people would not feel pressured to come up with an immaculate rendering of a major building as their first BAT unless they so chose...let me know your thoughts on this.

EDIT---I have rethought how to list the priorites, I'll submit the list to you via e-mail. It's a real simple concept as you will soon see.

EDIT #2---I have updated the list once again. Please check it out. I need to know if I have forgotten anything that you would like to see modeled. By you I mean the group. If I missed anything let me know and I will edit it accordingly.

Any updates guys?  It's been kind of quiet areound here lately.

I just bought Dreamweaver MX 2004 today from my university for only $30.  Talk about student discount.  I hope this will expedite the website construction progress.  Which also brings me to another thing.  I still need help with people resizing pictures for me.  It would cut down a lot of time and enable me to get project descriptions posted faster

    Oh yeah &

    Damn Wings and Damn Refs
I think they lost because I accidentally deleted my signature.  Yeah, it all rided on that.

Yeah it has been quieted down here over the last week or so. I don't have too much thats new unfortunately as of the project. But I found some work. As an HVAC tech. in Michigan its definitely feast or famine and this time of year its definitely famine. Once the warm weather hits, 80 hour work weeks are the norm until July. But right now work is hard to come by. People aren't using heat nor AC and that equates to little or no work. But I finally got a break today so I'll be busy with this job for a weeks time starting next week. I'll tell you come summer I definitely won't be able to contribute to this project like I would like too, but I'll try my best.

Man that refing tonight in the wings game was total crap. I know it's common to blame the refs when you lose, but, when you have that many penalties called against you and none against Calgary you begin to wonder...I saw at least three incidents where a penalty should have been called against Calgary in the first period and a half. The only penalty I won't argue was the major interference call against us in the first period. That was definitely a penalty. The rest were so-so but it should be a 2 way street as the penalties we were getting called for were not for Calgary. I won't go as far as saying the ref's caused us to lose but they certainly didn't help the Wings cause.

2 other things, I get to see the Pistons on Thursday and the Tigers on Saturday...whooo-hoooo...as you can see I didn't have much project related...lol.

I've been gone since Thursday, and had a couple hours to work on 150 west jefferson tonight.  I started over and after 3 hours this is what I have.  Much easier the second time through!

    /idealbb/files/gmax

I still have a lot of work to go and since I only have a couple hours a week to work on this, it might take some time.  What does everyone think so far?  I had to fudge on the base since I only have pictures of the front of the building and only the rear would even be visible due to a neighboring building and the parking deck.

Wolverine, I sent you some more pictures for the website this afternoon and afterwards I read that you were having problems with your e-mail.  If you didn't them, let me know and I will resend them.
