Trackmania

I'm curious if anyone on these forums has played or heard of Trackmania.

It's a series of arcade racing games created by Nadeo and published by Focus Home (the same company that picked up CXL 2011). There are four PC versions: Trackmania, Trackmania Sunrise, Trackmania Nations, and Trackmania United. The last two have been updated to improved Forever versions.

For those who would like to try Trackmania, TM Nations Forever is a great option. Although it isn't as extensive as United Forever, it's completely free to download off of the official website, legally. United Forever has six additional track settings and other improved features, so if you like Nations Forever, your account can be upgraded to United (but first you have to buy the full game!) Nations Forever is not a demo. You can play it as long as you want.

The best part about Trackmania, and the reason I though everyone here would be interested, is that you can make your own tracks in each setting. One of the locales you can use in United Forever is Bay, which has a urban theme with streets and high-rises.

It's got both mutliplayer and solo modes. I played Nations Forever a while back and initially I hated it. About two weeks ago, I tried TM again, and I got hooked so much I bought United Forever. I hope this post didn't sound like an advertisement, but it seemed necessary to give people here a good background, and how Trackmania actually relates to SimCity and city building.

To boldly build where no one has built before.

I love Trackmania! I play it all the time; I have United Forever (bought it during a promotion in which it was only $20). I'm online a lot, so if you race against JetWarrior, that's me 2.gif

And here's another little fun-fact: Focus Home Interactive, the current developer of Cities XL 2011, also helped produce (or distribute, one of the two) Trackmania in Europe.

Hmm, might have to look a bit more into this. I generally like racing type games, but I've never heard to this one before.
