No you haven't got too much building, I have more.

SC4 crashes because of a bug, sometimes it is because of a random error

-I sometimes have it when zooming or unzooming. And for me when it crashes it is random. when I installed NAM I had some bugs appearing. The buildings don't seem to have any problems, CAM i don't know

All that i can say to help is to save on a regular basis (that helps). Hope it helps otherwise things like that happen 4.gif

It is because you violated your access to the game. Exception reports give you the old ACCESS_VIOLATION excuse when the game crashes. 21.gif

Anyway, it could be a faulty plugin. Try removing them all, and then put one in at a time, and test it, until you come across it. If that isn't the case then it is like what Tower Dude said. The game is rather bugged anyway.

it's faster to remove half of them, then remove half of the infect half and so on.

You most likely have patched your game?  If not, the patches and updates can be found on the Maxis SC4 site.

If you hovered your cursor with a transit piece on it over a transit enabled lot, it will CTD; that is a known bug, with no cure.

Another good cure for CTD's is Datpacker, available at the BSC LEX.  All instructions must be read carefully.  It is best not to dat pack the NAM, tho.

My game also shut off random , I thought it was RAM memory overloaded, it would be interesting to know what causes it..

Ok, all you people with random crashes, pay attention.  THERE IS NOT ONE PIECE OF INFORMATION IN THESE POSTS THAT GIVE US A CHANCE TO DIAGNOSE YOUR PROBLEMS.

When you post a thing like this, we need to know:

    1. What machine you are using, especially the number of CPU's, the make and model of your GPU, the amount of real RAM you have, the amount of virtual memory your system has allocated (swap file);
    2. What operating system you are using:  Windows (version), MAC (version), Linux (version)
    3. The build level of the game.  This will tell us whether you have made all the patches.
    4. Exactly what you were doing at the time of the crash, if anything.
This much will give us a basis for discussion of your problem.  In any case, this should be posted in Bugs and Technical Issues.

While this may not prevent your crashing issue it can help you after you crash.  You can run Doc Rorlach's SC 4 Watcher utility. Start it before you start SC4 and it will create backups of your ciies and regions on the fly. It will also allow you to restore from backups. It doesn't take a lot of memory and in my experience it hasn't impacted the performance of SC4

    I agree.

Also if you are experiencing crashes on Windows 7, try running it in compatibility for XP SP3, and or as an administrator. Also if there is another user on your computer who plays Sim City and they don't have any problems, then try running the game as that user. Not logged on to them, but as that user.

Also DatPacking your plugins will help as well. Keep your plugins organized.

Also I cannot stress this enough, keep your hard disks maintained . As in defragment them, run disk cleanup. Even run the ChkDsk once every so often. Just go to Computer, click on properties for the drive that your game is stored on, click the tools tab, and then perform an error check. Also frequently check your Event Viewer in the system logs for any errors related to disks. Such as a corrupted file system or a block error. If these are present, run an error check, click Check Now, and then check try to fix errors after checking, click start, and it will perform a check.

Also have you recently make some large changes to your O/S? Reset those changes. Also make sure your game is kept on the C drive. That is where it feels home and cozy at. Hope this helps.
